Posted by on May 31, 2009 in Tech Chic

Many are asking me personally and through my personal mail if I know where to get themes, games, applications etc for Nokia e63.  Now, I took the time to compile this list of downloadables for nokia e63 and nokia e71.  A bunch of my friends have been an e-series convert especially the e63 since it’s just affordable for a whole bunch of functionality it has.  Nokia e71 apps and nokia e63 ones can actually be used on either phones as I believe they just have the same platform.  I am not sure about some apps but I have installed some e71 apps on my e63 phone and it just works fine.  Enjoy downloading and browsing through these free stuff… ciaoz!

12. For nokia e63 and e71 ebooks, just download pdf ebooks… you can read it through the inbuilt pdf reader.

:) enjoy maximizing the use of your e63 and e71 to the limits!

Waking up in Tagaytay

Pictures say more than words… I had my Nikon D40 with 18-55mm kit lens once again with me.  Inexpensive equipment costing PHP 20,000 with body, kit and bag.  I added some little bucks for the UV filter and the Circular Polarizer filter.  That’s all I have, plus my imagination and vision!  With this, I am just making the most out of my humble gears.  This Tagaytay trip was not planned much.. It was half-impromptu.  And all we did is take some photos.  Enjoy!

It’s a bliss… Summer’s up and at least in Tagaytay you get to feel cool breeze at night.

We stayed dined at Andanita Taj of Tagaytay again.

I love this shot!  It looked like a force field or some signal or something.

I have never seen Tagaytay like this…

And some cam-whoring shots for us :)

Sigh… I just cut my hair and now I’m missing my long long hair :(

That’s all for now…

The Story of the Slumdog Flair Candy and Why She Hates Short-cut-ers

The Story of the Slumdog Flair Candy and Why She Hates Short-cut-ers

I am not born rich!

My mom and her 4 sisters and 1 brother were raised in the squaters area. That’s right. You think this candy was born in a bed of gold? definitely not… My mom is unlucky as a child. Her mother (my grandmother) was not well-off. Okay, so my title is a bit overrated I just put it that way just to attract your interests 😛 and besides anyone by now would know what a “Slumdog” is… 😛 Anyway, they were not really slumdogs, they were just decently dirt-poor. They did live in the squaters area and they always had dried fish in their tables for food and a whole bunch of rice. (Maybe that explains why our family finds it so hard to trim down our tummies – too much rice intake haha) 😛 They could not afford to send my mom and her siblings to private school.   Luckily there are public schools in the city and that’s where my mom went. My mother as a child was very hardworking… She would wake up each morning to go to the market and prepare food for her, lola, lolo and her siblings. She would then “walk” 10 blocks, in the heat of the sun, just to go to school. MY GOSH IMAGINE THAT! If it were me I would have **fainted** but I solemnly acknowledge their hard work… deep in my heart, I really appreciate the challenges she has gone through…

My mom worked her way at school. She took her education seriously and graduated with an Accounting degree. (Like daughter like mother… eh??? ok, ok, I’ts the other way around…) My mom’s more of a genius than me! She could not, however, afford to pay for the review school and board examinations for Certified Public Accountant licensure examinations at that time. There are no PRC testing centers in Bacolod up till now. So if she would take one she would have to go either to Iloilo or Manila.

Since no funds were set up for her CPA board exam, she contented herself to a not-so-high-paying-job. She managed to earn some bucks just enough to send her little sister (my aunt) to school. Then her and her siblings helped each other out to almost everything. They only prioritized one thing for them all and that is… EDUCATION.

My mom did not take any short cuts… She worked so hard to be where she is now. Do you think now that I am just a sitting pretty beauty queen? ABSOFREAKINLUTELY NOT!!! Although I am luckier than she is, I always put into mind that I am “me” because of her. I am not comfortable living the very comfortable life knowing that they before were burning their sandals out just to walk to school. I, on the other hand, was driving my own car when I was in college… and I took the board exam she did not take! That’s why there was so much effort I put into studying for the board exams because I really want to be that for her. At least that would make her happy! Although, it is really not my ideal career, it is still my choice to pursue the course.

Right now my mom is still naturally pretty :)  I hope she is proud of her daughter coz I have been working hard too, like her, but in a totally different level. :)  She’s still pretty because she goes to Belo and uses OBAGI and she has the money to pay for her pampering arleady..  But still, her body is quite tired from working already… Poor mommy…

My mom did not take any shortcuts…

So did my Accountancy teacher, Ms. Lawas.

Ms. Lawas always told me that in life, there are no shortcuts. If you want to work your way to achieve your goal, you must definitely work hard for it. The Zobels and the Ayalas didn’t just sit and grew money on the bench, they were hardworking too! They were burning their brains for candy’s sake to think of new businesses and seek opportunities to grow their money some more!

What about the Lotto winners? Yes they are just plain lucky… but they also worked hard to go to the lotto house every day! or at least not everyday but suffer the long lines when they’re buying a ticket.

Why I hate Short Cuts

Duh… that’s because of my story above, yahlloorr??? Can’t follow me? 😛  haha … I was raised to think that way. Thinking there is no shortcuts! If you always think that there is always a way and you will definitely have a shortcut some way around then it would just get you LAZY! You wait and wait for it and not work hard for it and pray to be lucky but in the end you drain down the toilet waiting!

Cheating is obviously a short cut!

I must admit I have cheated in some ways at school 😛 But nothing major! I just cheat if I think it is fair to do so 😛 Disclaimer for a while here and this is the truth and many would vouch for it… In our classrooms in my accountancy class, in University of St. La Salle – Bacolod, we never cheat even if we are left alone by our mentor we do our own thing independently! We all firmly believed that if we do cheat, we would not pass the board exams because there is no way of cheating there!

Anyway… If the CHEATING is unfair that’s the time I hate it the most! If you are “cheating” the law because it’s ridiculous then that would be a valid cheating for me and I wouldn’t hate cheating in that case. But if you are “cheating” the law because you want to keeel some more then that’s totally scary and freaky go to the mental hospital dude!

Stealing is also a short cut!

You all bloggers and photographers… and everyone (blur @_@) know what this means… You worked your ass out trying to save from your poor itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny-little income to buy all the gears, the lenses, the flashes, the camera body itself and some underwater gears that you bought in a scary, unsafe, high crime rate, ghetto area so that you could just take this uber duper nice picture full of awesomeness that you wanted to put in your humble blog so that at least it would generate you some decent traffic and attract readers! Then someone just grabs this photo from you without any credit for you or your site… How would you freakin feel? yeah-huh I know what you mean buddies… That is also a means of a short cut… The short-cut-er did away from the saving part to the buying of the gears and stuff and short-cutted his way to just having that awesome picture.

G my P ladies and gents?

Helping someone is giving him access or permission to short cut

Sentence above is straightforward, if you don’t get it then ask your seatmate. If you don’t have a seatmate, ask someone online. If you have no friends online, ask me, I’ll be your friend. 😉

OK FINE! I’ll elaborate! Someone who asks questions all the time is fond of making short-cuts. This really depends you know. Sometimes you really need help from people. We all do! No one is an island. But someone asks you bugging questions all the time, how to do this do that… then that is just being a pest mah? Again you have all these knowledge in you someone asks for help and you share. The asker took a shortcut.

Again, there’s nothing wrong with this as long as it is in the healthy level. I personally love extending help to people who seem to really really need it. If you are a frequent reader of my blog you will notice tips and hints to budget travelling and what nice gadget to buy, is it good, bad or worth it? I put up this blog because I want to help the community.

But all this hardwork you have done to pull everything through and help others, he would not give you a decent crap of credit then that’s all bull.

So I hope that you understand that I have some little hesitation if you wanna grab my pictures without linking to my site or recognizing me. I have brought in much effort and hardwork in this blog balancing it from my work (Honestly, I am so busy and really got no time to update my blog at the office.) So if ever I do update, it’s at home where I am already tired and grumpy. Probably explains why this post is a funny grumpy one because I am writing it at 4am~

Me, as much as possible I avoid shortcuts… unless the shortcut is logical and won’t compromise me for any matter in the future then that should be fine.   There are many other instances where short-cut-ers would step on you…

Have you had any experience where you were short-cutted by someone?  Please share on the comments below :)

Reason behind the £40m Budget Cap on Formula 1

Reason behind the £40m Budget Cap on Formula 1

Rationale behind the cost cap

Believe it or not, the global crisis is once agian the deep culprit of this. Difficult times would mean that costs spent for the Formula 1 race by the owners and sponsors are much likely to be just in the “cost-to-cut” list. I think the FIA is worried to have a financially unhealthy track and thought of this budget cap to make the race stable. Though the FIA knows that the roots of the F1 race lies with the team’s freedom to tinker with the technicalities and strategize upon it, they believe that it must be done in a controlled and responsible environment watching innovation flourish within the teams without having to spend much. There are pros and cons to this cap and some of the teams would be happy and some would be not. Would it totally make a difference to the following years’ race?

£40m Cap exclusions:

  • Marketing and promotion – we want Formula One teams to look good and to entertain their partners. We want manufacturers to show off their cars at exhibitions and city centre displays, and we want teams and their sponsors to promote Formula One through inclusion in advertising campaigns.
  • Drivers and young driver programmes – Formula One is the pinnacle of motor racing. Fundamental to this is attracting the world’s best drivers. Moreover we wish to encourage continued investment in young driver programmes.
  • Engine costs – In order to attract manufacturer owned teams to take up the cost capping option, the FIA have decided to exclude engine costs for 2010 (only)

Ferarri’s threat to quit F1 if the £40m cap pursues

Ferarri is not quite among the happy teams with this issue.

My dear Kimi Raikkonen is not happy with this new FIA regulation. After his contract would expire on 2010, this cap might get him to quit F1. (no Kimi, NO!) He is worried that this would not be F1 anymore and there are a lot of question marks and that it is getting more and more difficult to get everyone happy.

F1 Drivers’ thoughts on the cap:

1. Lewis Hamilton’s say on the budget cap.

2. Button is good with the budget cap. Click here to watch the video-interview.

3. Kimi Raikkonen’s say on the budget cap here.

4. Mark Webber’s doubts.

3. Ferrari applying for injunction against F1 budget cap article.

Rome F1 Circuit Video

If only I can afford to watch this I would! The city of Rome is perfect for me before, and even better, it will have F1 soon! It is NIRVANA! lol It is a street circuit and I love street races because the race gets more interesting, dramatic, and messy car crashes happen!  This should push through in 2012. That would be 3 years from now. Can I save for that trip in 3 years? lol … I don’t think so. I also hope they would have amber lounge there!  Not that it would do me good if they have one there, unless, I would get invited. LOL I’m obviously dreaming…

Anyway the Rome grand prix shouldn’t be an alternative to the Monza circuit so I believe that the Rome street circuit is an additional track.

The Formula 1 Grand Prix in Rome ‘is not’ alternative in Monza ‘. He said the mayor of the capital, Gianni Alemanno, ‘may exist’. ‘The two circuits – stated – can not only coexist but rather help each other in terms of visibility’. So no one wants to remove the circuit at Monza and take it to Rome.

I miss ChuChu and he is back on the new Pokemon Platinum!

Posted by on May 12, 2009 in Featured, Gaming, Tech Chic

I miss ChuChu and he is back on the new Pokemon Platinum!

I used to play Pokemon Yellow, Red, Gold, Silver, Ruby, Sapphire and finaly Pearl and Diamond!  There’s something new to this world of pokemon and it is out in stores now!!!  the Pokemon Platinum for Nintendo DS!

Chuchu btw, is always the nick name I give to my starting pokemon which is always the water Pokemon.  In this case I have Pipulp.  They have the same starting pokemon as the Diamond and Pearl.

What’s new with the Pokemon Platinum:

1.  The star pokemon here is now Gratina

2.  Plus a new world in Sinnoh — Distortion world.  The name speaks of itself:

3. Vs. Recorder where it records a video of the battles you have had (just like the ones in my brute XD)

4. 60 more pokemon

5.  Massive use of Wi-Fi everywhere!  There’s Wi-Fi Plaza where you can connect with your friends!

6.  Box data – where you can share an image of your pokemon to other trainers.

7. Tap toys – not sure about this but I think this can be seen in the Wi-Fi area

8. Plaza games – there are just many games now including Swalot pop, Mime Jr top and Wobbuffet pop!

9.  Closing time at the Wi-Fi area – when it’s about to close at night, you will experience great fun! Just wait and see!

10. Enhanced Global Terminal – battling with other champs gets even more better and challenging

11.  Enhanced Global Trade Station

12. Wii messages – I’m also not sure about how this works… I mean Wii and NDs communicating?  It just sounds interesting XD

13. The battle Frontier – I guess this is the championship league before.

Anyway, soon there will be scattered Pokemon Platinum cheats to download it will just be anywhere… I think I might buy myself an NDS soon! I used to play pokemon on a downloaded NDS emulator before.  I also played the 1st versions with team rocket in gameboy coz my sister has one.  And I used to borrow my friend’s NDS to play pearl and diamond.  But I guess it’s time to buy my own!

It is nice playing without cheating but really, it’s damn hard as well you know… I bet it would take me 2 months to play this at least.. or make it three maybe coz there gots lots of new features that would just get me quite addicted!

Sandra Seifert is Miss Earth Philippines 2009!

miss earth

I am just so amazed to know that she knows so much about her advocacy (i.e., waste segregation). Job well done miss Seifert! You have made us Negrenses proud! She’s oozing the right confidence, the perfect smile and the right brilliant and smart answers!

I don’t really watch beauty pageants. My mom is such a fan of it that while we were watching she just blurted out… “You just lacked the height Hannah, but you could be there as well” I was like ermmm… hehe not a chance I think!

The only thing in common between me and her is that we both are concerned for our nature.  Living green and environment conscious.  Pretty much same advocacy as mine.

Here’s the Question and Answer portion video of the 2009 Miss Earth Philippines if you missed the paegent last night:

2009 Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix Results

Posted by on May 11, 2009 in Formula 1, Sports

Surprisingly, 6 drivers did not finish the race. majority of the retirees were out because of the dramatic crash at the 1st lap! Sadly, although Kimi made a great performance from 16th position to 10th, he had a mechanical problem there while he was trying to overtake Heidfeld. His engine just stopped right there and he drove his car right at the side to retire :( wah… Kimi could have done better than that if only his car did not roar to death.

Meanwhile, Felipe Massa was 4th on the grid but ended up 6th place because he nearly ran out of gas during the last laps and he had to sacrifice 5th place just to finish the race without having to pitstop. The Ferraris are really not getting their strategy straight now. Too bad for the driver potential that both Massa and Kimi have.

Alonso was deemed hero to have placed 5th pole position (taking it away from Massa) by its native land. More F1 drama at the next circuit!

I also tried live blogging and tested it to be fine. The only problem I had with it is that I had to leave my room immediately coz guests were there everywhere in my house and they would sleep in my room. Anyway, see you next week! Thanks for dropping by!

There’s something about the rain

There’s something about the rain

It’s raining these days and I can’t help but agree with the writerxcharacter… There’s just something about the rain (Iba talaga pag umuulan)…  JJ, my future mandarin teacher also introduced me to the Japanese kiss the rain… I cried… lovely song nia… thanks!

What’s the song to listen when it’s raining…

1. Kiss the rain by Yiruma sung by Hienie…

Kiss the Rain Yiruma Lyrics:

I often close my eyes
And I can see you smile
You reach out for my hand
And I’m woken from my dream
Although your heart is mine
Its hollow inside
I never had your love
And I never will

And every night
I lie awake
Thinking maybe you love me
Like I’ve always loved you
But how can you love me
Like I loved you when
You can’t even look me straight in my eyes

VRS 2/3
I’ve never felt this way
To be so in love
To have someone there
Yet feel so alone
Aren’t you supposed to be
The one to wipe my tears
The on to say that you would never leave

The waters calm and still
My reflection is there
I see you holding me
But then you disappear
All that is left of you
Is a memory
On that only, exists in my dreams

I don’t know what hurts you
But I can feel it too
And it just hurts so much
To know that I can’t do a thing
And deep down in my heart
Somehow I just know
That no matter what
I’ll always love you

Kiss the rain by Billie Myers.

Kiss the Rain – Billie Myers Lyrics:

Can you hear me
Am I getting through to you

Is it late there
Is there laughter on the line
Are you sure youre there alone
Cuz im
Trying to explain
Somethings wrong
You just dont sound the same

Why dont you
Why dont you
Go outside
Go outside

Kiss the rain
Whenever you need me
Kiss the rain
Whenever Im gone too long
If your lips feel lonely and thirsty
Kiss the rain
And wait for the dawn
Keep in mind
Were under the same sky
And the nights
As empty for me as for you
If you feel
You cant wait till morning
Kiss the rain
Kiss the rain
Kiss the rain

Do you miss me
I hear you say you do
But not the way Im missing you

Whats new
Hows the weather
Is it stormy where you are
You sound so close but it feels like youre so far
Oh would it mean anything
If you knew
What Im left imagining
In my mind
My mind
Would you go
Would you go

Kiss the rain

As you fall
Over me
Think of me
Think of me
Think of me
Only me
Kiss the rain
Whenever you need me
Kiss the rain
Whenever Im gone too long
If your lips
Feel hungry and tempted
Kiss the rain
And wait for the dawn
Keep in mind
Were under the same sky
And the nights
As empty for me as for you
If you feel you cant wait till morning
Kiss the rain
Kiss the rain
Kiss the rain
Kiss the rain

(kiss the rain)
(kiss the rain)
(kiss the rain)

Hot Summer Nights Reggae Album

Summer’s up and reggae is the beat! I just heard “Baby I love your way” in the radio as they promote this particular album. Radio advertising could be really effective coz it grabbed my attention lol!

It has 17 renditions of the all-time favorites! Reggae-fied versions of pop songs on the album in sequential order are:

1.Ordinary People
2.We Belong Together
3.If I Ain’t Got You
4.Baby I Love Your Way
5.How Deep Is Your Love
7.Change The World
8.Saving All My Love For You
9.Time After Time
10.You Make Me Feel Brand New
11.Anything For You
13.La La Means I Love You
14.That’s The Way Love Goes
15.The Power Of Love
16.Sweetest Taboo
17.Another Sad Love Song

I want to particularly play this while I’m road trippin’ or long drivin’. Off to a legal music shop! These albums are worth buying for. XD It only costs PHP 350!

Nokia E71x is E71 on steroids!

Nokia E71x is E71 on steroids!

MAMAMIA my eyes pop out! Nokia just launched the slimmest qwerty smartphone ever!

Look at this beauty!

Its features are quite similar to the Nokia E71 actually with Mail, Navigator, IM, XM, Music, CV, and mobiTV along with dual-band HSDPA, Wi-Fi radio, Bluetooth with stereo audio support, speakerphone, and 3.2 megapixel camera with flash along with a QVGA display, QWERTY keyboard, microSDHC slot, GPS support with voice control, and speakerphone.

I just hope though that they improved the camera quality of this phone. Both the cameras of E71 (3mp) and E63 (2mp) fail in my standards. Would the .2 megapixel upgrade add to the quality of the pictures? I think I’ll have to wait for some review or coments on that!

Do you own a Nokia E71x? What do you think of it? Kindly comment below.

Flair Candy wants to Cosplay!

Flair Candy wants to Cosplay!

Before Harry Potter was even conceptualized by JK Rowling, Akazukin Chacha was in my heart! Akazukin Chacha is a sweet gullible girl who goes to a witch school necessary for her magical world! At first, her powers were a total failure but it is her destiny to save the world from the evil one! Anyway, this was my favorite cartoon when I was young! clip2

The bubbly witch!

Not only that, she could be hawt! Watch her as she transforms into a Magical Princess!

Holy Up!

and here’s her transformed figure if she uses her magic wand united with Courage, Love and Hope!

If you want to see her or imagine her as a real human being and not a cartoon, you would want to see this…

She is sweetness! Now, if ever I want to cosplay (which I think sounds fun), I would want to be akazukin chacha!!! Sponsors sponsors where are you? lol

Happy 1 Year Anniversary Flair Candy!

Happy 1 Year Anniversary Flair Candy!

Seems like it has not been a while yet since I started blogging.  May 1, 2008 was a good date to start. See my first blog post here 😛  I initially used blogger and this is where it all started for me.  I don’t know html, css and web stuff as of this date and so I found blogger quite a user-friendly blogsite.

The Story of Yahoo Answers’ role to the Birth of Flair Candy dot com.

I was getting hooked to Yahoo answers coz every time some question pops into my mind, I search in google, and it gives me yahoo answers.  Then I decided to register to it as well.

I have a very inquisitive mind and Yahoo answers members answered stuff like this for me:

Yes, the yahoo answers community really answered lots of stuff for me which really helped me in some of my decision making processes.  I was an active asker… but I wondered, what if I were the one to answer questions as well?

The following answers I had for the following questions were chosen as the BEST ANSWER.

I just noticed that I could really answer well to some of the questions of people that needs to be answered.  I though that I could contribute to the world as well in my own little way by answering stuff like that.  That I could actually be a contribution to the World Wide Web!  So there, just by that I thought of starting my own blog 😀

At first I really do not want to reveal my real identity to the web because I’m afraid that if I do, I would not be able to write freely because I would get conscious of what I write.  With this, I started to think of an “Alias” and created my alter-ego.

Notice the name I used for answers: “KungFuCandy

I adored the spice girls when I was still way younger lol and KungFuCandy is Baby Spice’s (Emma Bunton) alter-ego in the music video “Say You’ll be There”.

I decided to register for blogger and use kungfucandy.blogspot.com url but it is already taken see here.  I was quite pissed off because the site does not even have like a single content?!? RAWR!  Anyway, it was a blessing in disguise because it forced me to think of another blogger url name.  I came up with still being a Candy but attaching FLAIR to it!  By now, Flair Candy is uniquely identified as me – web wise and in the real life!  Unique, Stylish, Catchy url name!  I’m so happy!

Enough blunt!

now I registered flaircandy.blogspot.com May1, and I think I made the first blog post on May 3.  If you go to my blogspot url you will see that I have converted it to a free-writing blog and daily journal.  A lesser formal type of blogging but it’s still me ^_^

The Candy  Blog EVOLUTION

flaircandy blog 1

See above I only got super little visitors to my blog and this was the month after i started blogging.  I was quite happy with those results ^_^  Knowing that other countries have viewed it, I was just quite enthused!  Then again on the first month of my blogging, May 2008, I read what I write, and I’m the only one reading it lol.

rose blogger template copy 3 I changed headers and themes.

I started to know how to tinker with html and css… and understand the language of the web.  I mean what does a CPA know about all these stuff?  Really, if you think about it, I really put much effort into this blog **tears** 😀

And so I added this chatbox I found on widgetserver.com but this box is no ordinary box for me, It’s a Shout Out live chat box that gave initial traffic to my blog.  Click here to view how it generated traffic to my blog before from nil to a 112 in a day 😛  Well I think this isn’t the only factor but having other blogger friends, especially outside Philippines, just gave me readers to my blog.

I was so happy to be a part of their community and appeared on the main page itself 😛

Flaircandy V2 background Credits to Jehz for this header ^_^  This was also the time I bought my own domain name and transferred from blogger to wordpress!  All thanks to Jehz for this!

That’s it for the not-so-fairy-tale story of the Flair Candy blog.  This has been my outlet for almost many things.  The geek in me just surfaces in this blog.  I will continue to write about my travels, journeys, gadgets, photography, fashion and beauty, thoughts on love and life, Formula 1 and many more.  Hoping to maintain a work-blog-life balance in my life hehe… After all I’m an Accountant… right? You don’t get my point???  Accountants are good in balance things out *wink* *wink*  I have retired being a CPA-cheerleader hehe, I’m too old and heavy for that  now 😛  Right now I’ll just be your CPA-blogger, oh or just drop that CPA 😛 but shame I worked so hard on those three letters so they shall be attached to my name forever… 😛 CIAOZZZ!!!

Work like you don’t need money,
Sing like no one’s listening,
Dance like no one’s watching
