A Fiery Rev&Rave Drink at White Avenue

A Fiery Rev&Rave Drink at White Avenue

If you still haven’t seen the pattern of my latest blog posts,  then it’s about time I tell you the obvious… These bars I that I have been featuring lately could be your ticket to watch the Formula 1 race in Signapore :)

All you need to do is to order any of the Rev&Rave drinks or barchow from participating bars and get a chance to win a trip to Singapore to attend the 2010 Grand Prix Season Singapore and other cool prizes!

I tried the Rev&Rave drink at White Avenue.  To tell you frankly, I got tipsy happily and I forgot to ask what their Rev&Rave drink is.  You just find out for yourself okay… All I can do is to describe the drink and the taste of it the best that I can remember.

That’s me before drinking the Feiry Rev&Rave drink

Yup, that’s the FIRE-y drink… literally :)

Check out the video :)

After I did it, I filled out this raffle form :)

and yes, this is giddy me after all the drinks I had

I also made friends because of the F1 Singapore Grand Prix Season.  I made friends not only here in Manila but also friends from outside the country like Vietnam, Singaprore and UK.  This is because I receive a lot of emails from Formula 1 fans and they ask me a few questions about the F1 race.

Here are some love mails I receive from them.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up buying Bay Grandstand as they are selling out fast. Saw some nice shots from people and one where the cars come out from under the grandstand, so you are above. No fences or anything:)

Are security tough with lenses. In Australia you arent allowed 300mm but they dont like big cameras and monopods. Some security are ok and some arent. I just want to bring a 5D and 70-200mm lens.

Are you going this year? If so I look forward to your shots on your site.

Cant wait!

Thanks for your help

-F1 fan from Manila

Hi Hannah
Just to let you know that i had a great time in singapore for the race, but had to leave when hamilton passed the winning line due to catching the train back to the airport.
Found out that the last train to the airport was 23.15pm, so i had to avoid the ques, but well worth the travel.

Looking forward to this years racing.

-F1 fan from UK

Hi Hannah,

It was all worth it. Yes I had some good shots. I will post it soon, I just don’t have the time right now….dami kasing pictures. Infact I have not selected yet. What about you? hows your coverage? Too bad you got sick. Guess what, I was able to shoot the drivers few meters away from me…..really worth it.

-F1 fan and photographer from Manila

Hello Hannah it has been a while since we last spoke. Understand you are having great adventures on the waves. Anyhoo I thought I’d let you know that they have started distributing the Singapore F1 tickets here in Singapore. I got mine yesterday. If you are as curious as I was before I got them, maybe you’d like to see how they look. I got them on my blog.
Anyhoo you take care and keep enjoying those waves. Till next time, good bye and God bless.
– F1 fan from Singapore

Hello! Found your site as I was searching for F1 Singapore photos. I can offer a place for you to stay in when you come next year! And the pictures which u put up are very clear and well taken! Haha… Peace be with you!
– a guy from Singapore
Okay so I think the last email, this guy was just hitting on me lol
…and a whole lot of email love dating back to 2008.
To me, F1 Singapore is more than just a race and zooming cars.  It’s also experiencing the lovely city of Singapore, the streets with the loud zooming cars and meeting the people you talk about F1 with online like these dudes ang gals above.  It’s the good kind of loud.  And every time you hear the cars ZOOM… you’re adrenalin jumps out… and you see other people chilling and walking around… I have been to the Singapore Grand Prix twice and I will go there again and again and again if circumstances allow.
Will I see you there?

Missing Ponti

Posted by on Aug 29, 2010 in Announcements, Formula 1, Promos, Singapore, Sports, Travel

Missing Ponti

Ponti is not a person

Ponti is place

where hybrid people in the Metro

dine the place with grace

and after dark this place transforms

into hip-notic scene

if you have not been here yet,

where have you been?

this place brings awesome memories

for more than ten awesome years

this place has just been a part

of everyone’s careers!

That was a hard one.

Anyway, I really miss this place.  The resto-bar is really called “Il Ponticello” but the people just call it “Ponti”. Aside form the good food, I always love the crowd here too.  It’s a temple for my dancing soul :) I haven’t been here in a since we moved offices to The Fort.  I was so glad we came here for a pitstop.  This place is really known for its bar and night life.  But people don’t usually know that they have good Italian food here.  Well, I haven’t really tasted everything but I love the pizza and the pasta here!

Prosciutto Di Parma, Mortadela, Salami Milano and Pepperoni Salami

(translation: all-meat pizza)

It was a little bit salty for me, but I have tried other pizzas and I recommend the Four-Cheese Pizza!

Vince ordered the Onion Soup: Zuppa Di Cippole

It’s Onion soup with Mozarella and dipped bread.

Vince also ordered this.  He was in the mood for some lamb dish.

This is the Arrosto D’Agnello.  It’s a Roman specialty of over-baked leg of lamb in red wine sauce.

Now that is definitely Vince’s taste :)

Rev&Rave drink: Bacci made of Vodka, Tequilla and Orange

It’s a yummy drink and tastes just like juice :)  You’ll feel the alcohol kick in the middle though **oh lowdy**

fun! fun!

I was feeling a little bit hyper because this was the night before my trip to KL.

This is also the drink that could give me (or you if you buy the same drink) a chance to be sent to Singapore to watch the F1 Signapore Grand Prix 2010!  You know why you want to go.  You would get to see the legendary Michael Schumacher or your other favorite F1 driver in the Parade of the Drivers before the race starts.

I watched the F1 Grand Prix before and saw my favorite F1 driver Kimi Raikkonen.  Watch this video and hear me scream.

Imagine you’re 5 meters away from Schumi… *faints* I haven’t seen him in person yet BTW and I’m hoping I would get a chance to win too.  It would be FAB!  I will tell my grand children all about him!!!

Not a fan eh?  You don’t have to be.  When I was in college, I wasn’t a fan of F1 but I thought it would be cool to see this most luxurious event LIVE.  I never thought I would ever really get to watch it live… I mean, tickets were expensive and you need to go out of the country!  But when they announced that they will have the first night race in Singapore, I really took the chance to watch it! Singapore is so near the Philippines and if you take advantage of the seat sales, you’d get cheaper tickets.  It’s an event you’d be proud you experienced.

F1 Signapore is a big feast.  You would also get to see stars performing mini-concerts around the area (included in the ticket).  So far, I have witnessed “The Wailers (THAT WAS THE BOMB) reggae love” and the Backstreet Boys.  This year, its the diva’s turn – that’s right Mariah Carey, Missy Elliot, Adam Lambert (he’s a Diva, right?), also Daughtry and many more.

F1 Singapore Grand Prix Season FAQ #2:

Hi, I’m planning to go to the Singapore F1 this year and I`m considering the Bay Grandstand due to budget concerns. My cousin told me that the dark blue area at the very edge is nice so we can see the turn from the esplanade. What would you suggest to me since I read in your page that the dark green are the best seats. Hope to hear from you soonest. I plan to get my tickets already. Thanks so much! :)

and my reply:

I was actually seated at the yellow seats but I frequently walked around to get a better view of the F1 cars.  So, no matter where you sit, you can still do this.  The best seats for me are still the dark green ones at around rows 1-10, but I also went to the dark blue area to take photos of pictures in the esplanade turn.

I still love my pictures from the dark green seats.

Here’s the view from the dark blue seats.

Here’s the view from the dark green seats.

no grills:) there’s a tiny whole in there where you can squeeze your camera in… but I’m not sure if this year they put more grills there.

Sexy Amber UltraLounge

Sexy Amber UltraLounge

I know I talk about the Formula 1 a lot but this bar is not to be mistaken as Amber Lounge of F1.  Amber Lounge is Formula One’s Hottest most exclusive party in different countries hosting it.  It’s the party everyone’s looking forward to. The first Amber Lounge in Singapore happened in Conrad Centennial and yours truly was present… well, outside the club (lol)  but still!!! I just felt so lucky to at least have my picture taken there.

Amber Lounge entrance

Look at the happy monkey… I’m a poser!

The first night race held in Singapore, there would be one on Conrad Centennial. This event is attended by the drivers/racers, sponsors, international models and even some hollywood celebrities and musicians – gathering together to wine and dine.  I absolutely want to rub shoulders with these VIPs and meet Kimi Raikkonen up close but it costs 500 euros. Yeah, I can’t afford it for now. I just wish I could win a free pass somewhere, or someone could give me one. This definitely is an addition to my list of things-to-do-before-I-die.

F1 in Manila

Really? F1 in the Philippines? NOT!  Uhmmm… NO!?!

But hypothetically speaking, let’s just say the Philippines made a bid to host the Formula 1 in the Philippines (c’mon we can dream, can’t we), and it is a *street circuit* too like the one in Singapore, I say they would either use the SM Mall of Asia grounds or The Fort.  Or just build a strong track in Subic… Or do we already have a nice track in Subic? not sure…

Anyway, that means we should also have Amber Lounge :) and if ever we do have one, Amber Ultra Lounge is a candidate!

Amber UltraLounge

Meg Party and Maybelline Makeup 05Meg Party and Maybelline Makeup 07

I love being in this club.  The ambiance suits my party soul and the crowd is chic and hip!  I took a pitstop in this bar before I left for Malaysia and guess who I saw… My former officemate Martin who also was a Candy Cutie before!  I hope he’s not reading this, or else I’m dead lol

He was in the magazine together with these guys… He’s big time lol

Before when we were on the same team at work.

After 3 years…

He’s now a CFA (so hard to pass this exam!) and I’m now a certified bum! yaye!

(my arms look big on this angle ugh!)

moving on…

ahh… nicer pictures!

If you do party at Amber, don’t forget to order any Rev and Rave drinks or barchow for a chance to win a trip to Singapore to attend the 2010 Grand Prix Season Singapore and other cool prizes!

Memories at Amber

Amber is very memorable because this was the first time I kissed my boyfriend with everyone watching!  We attended a meg event and they needed a couple to join the contest.  For some reason, the organizers knew us and asked us to join.  For me to win Maybelline products, we needed to have the best kiss…

Why You Want To Witness F1 Singapore

I have watched the event two years in a row and I still want to watch again.  Check out my F1 archives if you want to know why I love F1 in Singapore and why you should watch it too!

Singapore F1 Frequently Asked Questions FAQ #1

And since this is very much related to everyone, I have decided to post questions that my readers ask me through email.  I will censor their name (or change it of course) just for their own privacy… Anyway, these will be helpful to you too if you are watching the Formula 1 Grand Prix LIVE in Singapore!

I found your website and really love your F1 photos. I am coming to Singapore for in Grand Prix week this year. Currently looking at options for tickets and choosing between Bay Grandstand and Premier Walkabout which you can still get from Australia thru agencies. Do you have any opinions on the differences if I may ask?

I am a very keen photographer and want to apply for access.

Have you had media access before because some of your shots look much better than what you can get here at the Grand Prix in Melbourne. I am actually a freelance photographer trying to break into motorsport and follow my passion of F1!

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you for the email :) Here is my reply:

I didn’t get a media pass went I went to Singapore.  I was hoping to get one but you need to get one as early as January for the passes.

As for the tickets… I took the Bay Grandstand tickets before and I say there is a corner there where you can take advantage and take pictures with especially on the Friday’s practice and Saturday qualifying.  There are too many people on Sunday so it won’t be likely for you to get any decent shots.

I really can’t compare premiere walkabout vs Bay grandstand because I haven’t gone to Zones 1 and 2 during the event yet.  But premiere walkabout means you can only walk around and you won’t have elevated platform to take pictures with.  Although, the only advantage of this is that you can roam around the “Elite” areas and you might bump into important celebrities (and even the drivers themselves).  The disadvantage is that you might not be able to get a good shot of the buzzing cars.

That’s it for now folks, stay tune for the next Club up next… and the next Singapore F1 FAQ #2 ^_^

Hundreds of thousands of F1 enthusiasts from all over the world are expected to visit Singapore during the action-packed season so it is advisable to book tickets early. You can purchase a single-day ticket or a three-day pass. Visit www.singaporegp.sg to find more details about the GPSS tickets, the full entertainment schedule and complete artist line-up.

I don’t know why but when I get sick, I get even more geekier.  I tried to rest, but I got bored so I surfed the net and looked for stuff that can make me laugh and giggle.  I tried not to do stressful activities since I’m sick, so instead, I geeked out and browsed the web, blog-hopped and watched dozens of videos on YouTube.  I stumbled upon this video that PLDT myDSL made, which is actually a special extended version of their TV commercial and can be seen in YouTube.

I appreciate how they picked an “average Joe” kinda type for the lead role in the TVC.  He represents all of us surfaholics 😛  In the video, you can see the most famous characters in the internet.  Do you recognize at least 10 of them?  I think that some of the characters like the Panda, Tarsier and the Inmates are the characters that went totally viral on the net.  The Cosplayers and the robots represent characters in different online games.  And of course, Manny Pacquiao and the muppets wearing basketball jerseys represent some of the sporting activities offered by Watchpad.  The Watchpad is some sort of a TV on your PC that has 20 cable channels like CNN, National Geographic and my fave Cartoon Network. So if you want to save money just get ANY of the PLDT myDSL packages like the XCITE 1995. This comes with a free Watchpad and the speed is up to 2mbps. You can ditch your cable provider since you already have cable tv on your computer. By the way, you can watch cable TV on Watchpad while doing your usual surfing on the Internet. You get the best of both worlds and do it at the same time… TV and surfing the internet on your PC! To know more about Watchpad and to view list of channels, just visit their official website.

Hopefully, if in the future they make a new video similar to this, they would also include FlairCandy as one of the internet characters too!

Candy in d’ houze… REPRUHZZENT!!!

haha in my duh-reamzzz!

I don’t know the statistics, but I feel that most people spend their time online more than they watch TV.  Even TV shows post their episodes online.  Not that I totally ignore TV, but I often get more updated on what’s happening in the world by following YouTube sensation Philip DeFranco.  I also learned how to do my own makeup by following Michelle Phan’s channel on YouTube.  Michelle Phan’s Lady Gaga Bad Romance look tutorial has over 11.5 million views! *faints*

All I’m saying is, I’m a Certified Surfaholic and I need a stable bandwidth connection to view videos, upload photo albums and video blogs.  Good thing my DSL line gives me a steady connection and it can keep up with my online needs!  I also have wireless broadband which I no longer use that often.  Sometimes, it works pretty fine but oftentimes, it feels like deja vu.  Like I’m reminded of the time I was still using dial-up.  Anyway, since I’m happy with my connection, I wanted to share my top 10 viral videos of all time.

Top 10 viral videos of all time

The video above inspired me to create my very own viral list.  I am not sure how many people I got infected with my flu virus 😛 but these videos are sure contagious!  I’d be glad to infect you all with giggles.  These videos infected laughter to 80 million people at most!  Some of the characters in the video below are featured in the TVC above.  Do enjoy, be happy!

The Expendables in 3D

The Expendables in 3D

I’m just bluffing of course.  The expendables is not in 3D and if it is, prepare yourself for the “attack of the lips.”  I had trouble watching the 2D movie in theatre because it seemed like Sylvester Stallone’s lips wanted to get out of the screen!

image image

Let alone watch it in 3D… the lips will surely pop out and get you!

*jumps off a cliff*

Take a look at Sylvester Stallone’s then and now picture.

image image

I know it’s also aging, but I think the procedures weren’t necessary… I think he had his lips done, he had browlifts and full facelift.

He looks pretty much exactly like her mother now… His brows are more well-groomed than mine lol.

I like my men with *battle scars* it’s sexy…

not plastic surgery scars lalala…

*Cleansing Time*

oh snap! wrong photo…

Here you go…

ahhh… Rambo <3

Don’t forget to subscribe 😀

Backstreet Boys New Music Video – Bigger

Backstreet Boys New Music Video – Bigger

The era of the Boy Bands are long gone.  It’s now Bieber’s turf lol.

But, I must say, I miss them.  When I listen to some of their songs now, it’s just too corny for me.  But I can’t deny the fact that they once drove me gaga.

Let’s start with the Backstreet boys 😛

Then and now…

Back in grade school I used to dig Nick Carter LOL. But now, after 10 years, I dig Howie more… you should watch their latest video Bigger.  I didn’t like it as much as Bye Bye Love but Howie D really looked great there :D  The video was shot in cute Japan.  I honestly think Alodia should be in that video!

I used to dance a lot back in High School and we would often copy the dance steps in the Pop music videos such as Britney Spears, Spice Girls, N’Sync and the Backstreet Boys… remember Larger Than Life’s robot dance… I still memorize the steps up till now 😛

Funny thing about the song Bye Bye Love is that I didn’t know it was the Backstreet Boys until I heard the DJ announce the song on Max FM.  Vince also liked the song… not until he knew it was the Backstreet Boys.  He’s so biased lol.

Amuway, here’s a video from their concert in Oslo.  They didn’t have the same energy as before, but check out Howie on 00:38.  He’s just so cute now lol

Also, check out their new video Bigger.

Dance With Me

Dance With Me

I just started going to my dance class yesterday at ACTS Dance and Arts Academy.  I paid only P2800 for 12 session.  Each session is generally for an hour for their regular class and 1.5 hours for  Weekend sessions.  It’s amazing because the schedule of their classes is very flexible.  You can choose from over 15 classes  ranging from Dance, Fitness, Sports, Music and Art classes.  And the best thing is that you can attend any class you want.

If you don’t want to pay for 12 sessions and you just want to try out one class (walk-in), you just need to pay P280 or P350 depending on the class.

I am really interested in Lyrical Hiphop and Diva Dance.  Lyrical Hiphop makes you dance to the tunes of “Bleeding Love”, “Pyramid” and other RnB ballads.  Diva Dance however gives you more of a “club attitude.”  With Diva dance, you dance like Beyonce and the Pussycat dolls.  Sexy, Snappy!

Those two classes are the ones that I am planning to attend…

I know some people are interested in taking dance classes too… So, take it with me!!!

The studio is just small and usually only 1 to about 5 people are being taught per session.  Sometimes, if only 1 enrollee arrives, they still proceed with the dance lesson (like a 1 on 1 type).  But, I want to dance with friends so, enroll with me all of you who are interested. 😀

Expiration Date PLEASE!

Posted by on Aug 20, 2010 in Announcements, Food, Health, Wall of the Weird

Will all Food and Beverage companies put not only the Production Code on your products but also an expiry date please?  I am not sure if the law requires them to. If yes, then uh-oh…

I am just generalizing this post because this goes out to every company producing perishable goods.
This chocolate ate last Tuesday tasted weird. It has no expiration date on the cover, nor the individual chocolate bars! It only has a production code which should mean something to them, but c’mon, us consumers don’t get to know instantly what your production codes mean…
I bought this from a department store. I usually check the expiration dates all the time and I did not make any exception to this product.  It did not have any.  I was so craving for this chocolate so I just bought it.  I mean, what the heck.  I supposedly should trust that they don’t sell expired products because if not, they’re the law will get them… right?  So, I bought the thing.  It looks new and good… and yummy! so I grabbed it and paid for it.
Back home I took one mini bar,  the peanuts tasted kinda weird, but the chocolate tasted fine.  Overall, it didn’t taste that bad. I ate 3 and ignored the weird peanut taste.  My tummy ached a few hours after I ate it (Vince was witness)… I’m not sure if that was really the cause (I also ate some other stuff) so I am not saying that I am entirely sure that my tummy ached because of it.  I’m just saying, it’s possible that this product is expired so I went checked the pack again – no expiration date.
I studied Cost Accounting before and I know that they must have a production code printed with the wrapper and so I looked for it. I found the production code outside the main wrapper and to the individual candy bars.  It should mean something more so I made a research and I found this article:
I found out that the digit indicating the year of production is the number "0" as in zero… So that could mean 2000 or 2010… I’m more inclined to think that it is made in 2010.  If so, they are not yet expired because chocolates have at least 2 years before they expire.  I’m saying, only the peanuts tasted bad.  The chocolate tasted fine.  But my point is:
How am I sure because there was no expiry date???
Right now, brands are very focused on their new marketing strategies.  I just do hope we don’t forget the basics such as putting expiration date on the stuff you are selling.
To all you guys, be a smart consumer.  Always check for expiration dates.  Don’t just trust the supermarket, it doesn’t have a brain – you do!  I know you might forget, but if you do this often like me, it will become a good habit.  I had a couple or three instances before reporting to the department store head that they had expired products on their shelf.  My mistake here is, I should have asked for the expiration date if I really wanted to buy the thing.  Anyhow, in case you encounter a product without an expiry date and you want to check out the manufacturing date instead through their production code, check out the website above.
In case you have any idea on any law or government regulation regarding expiration codes on the products, please do let me know by commenting below… I am not informed, so I would appreciate being aware with my readers.

The minority, no matter what definition, is usually always ignored.  But sometimes, minority could mean something more.  In this case, minority is “special”

I just found out that there were countries visiting my site that I didn’t even know of.  I know I’m bad at geography and memorizing country names.  But I seriously haven’t encountered some of the places that visit my blog.

If I have enough money… I would want to travel to these places.  It’s the unpopular that I want to discover.  I find more treasure in the rare like rare music, rare TV drama… and the likes.

I just watched “The Expendables.”  Don’t ask me about the review, I wouldn’t say anything nice.  I learned something though.  I learned that there is a place called “Vilena”.

I looked at my Cluster Maps and what you are seeing is data from May 2010 up to date.

Just by looking at it, I wondered what countries or places those dots are… I’m like “There’s internet connection there?”  and yet, they visited my blog!

The list below contains some countries visiting my website that I have never heard of like Senegal, Suriname, Malawi, Guyana, Belarus, Djibouti, Guernsey, Swaizland, Benin, Niue, Martinique, Mozambique, Anguilla and Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Check out more of my clustermaps here.

These countries interest me hmmmmm……

Do you have a blog? have you checked which countries visit you too?  Isn’t it amazing!?!

It’s the middle of the month of August and these are the magazines you need to check out before the month ends!

Chalk’s 10th Anniversary Issue

Every year, they pick a select few for the Bright Young Manila.  They only got 10 this year because they are celebrating the number 10!  Yours truly, Flair Candy, is one of the 10 Bright Young Manila.  Archie Tolentino did my make-up.  He is the chief make-up artist of Maybelline.  It was a great experience as I chatted a little bit with a few of them like Dae and Kyrjia.  I also happen to meet Tricia Gosingtian, photographer/model/fashionista and many more.

Thanks to DJ Vince for the feature :)

OK! Magazine

Check out the latest celebrity breeds… I mean, check out celebrity babies featured on this month’s issue of OK! Magazine.  We’ve witnessed a lot of child stars going the wrong direction, getting back from their own falls, and some just never made it.  I wonder, what happened to that home alone kid?  Anyway, the question is: How will this generation of celebrity kids turn out to be?

As for now, Suri is my favorite Celebrity baby and I love looking at her pictures.

Speaking of child stars, say “Hello” to the abs of Zac Efron.  This High School musical kid is turning into a man… Why must they grow up so quick?  oh, his photos inside are a must-see!

Are you also a fan of Lost?  I just started watching this series because I ran out of Fringe episodes to watch.  I am just on the 16th episode of the first season and I didn’t read their interviews because some suggested spoilerzzz… anyway, if you’re a Lost fanatic, you might want to read their interviews.

In this issue, Cosmopolitan magazine gives you the best of the best in beauty as it presents this year’s Cosmo Beauty Awards!  The staff of Cosmo scoured the shelves and tried and tested the products in the market to come up with this year’s list of over 90 winners ranging from classic products to new innovations.

I also joined the contest they conducted where you can get the chance to win all the beauty loot valued at P110,811.45 (as you see in the cover).  You would need to grab a copy though because the codes are inside the mags.

I also love who they picked as cover girl for this month’s issue.  Maricar is both beauty and brains.  She faced lots of challenges being a celebrity but it didn’t pull her down.  Instead, she rose above and proved to the world that everything is just going to be alright.

All these magazines are available in newsstands, bookstores and supermarkets

The Reveal: Pantene is the Mystery Hair Care Brand

I was invited to watch The Buzz for the unveiling of the Mystery Hair Care brand.  It is all new Pantene Pro-V.  At that specific episode of The Buzz, three teleserye princesses talked about their transformations.  It was not my first time at ABS-CBN, but it was my first time to sit in as an audience for one of their shows.

Left to Right: Shayne me and Vivian.

Shane and Vivian are participants for the I Commit to Change page.
