Partying in Hong Kong

Partying in Hong Kong

I’ve been to Hong Kong a few times, what can I say, I love the food and the sights here.  But, I’ve never been out to experience the night life.  I have planned to go out a few times but since I don’t know any locals in HK, it was hard.

I think the best way to explore the city is to befriend a local 😛

You have virtualtourist.com, travelocity and many other sites that will let you know where to go so in case you don’t know anyone, just do your research online.

But, lucky for us… our know some HK residents and finally!!! I got to go out at night to see what’s happenin’ in Hong Kong.

Fatt's Place Hong Kong Hannah Villasis

Fatt’s Place is located at 2 Hart avenue, Tsim Sha Tsui.  It’s in between Nathan road and Chatham road. They said that this place has the greatest selection of beer both local and imported.  You can munch on chicken wings, steaks and spare ribs here.  They also give free peanuts which I adore because they tasted so good!

This is everyone.  A mix of locals, residents and tourists :) I really had fun thanks to these guys!

In Hong Kong, if there’s more than two of you commuting, it’s efficient to take a cab coz you can share the fare (that rhymes!) with your friends.  There’s 4 of us in this cab which is also the max number they can accommodate.  Look at my ugly face, I’m already half-buzzed at this time.

Our cab was headed to the night life of Hong Kong – Lan Kwai Fong!

I thought we were ust meeting Vince’s friends and possibly have dinner or drinks somewhere.  I didn’t know we were going clubbing but I was wearing these.  @_@ I’d still choose to be comfortable though, walking around Hong Kong is very enjoyable, but it could be painful too.

A couple of days after, an online friend from Hong Kong buzzed me up on Facebook chat saying he thought he saw me at Lang Kwai Fong… He should’ve said hi!  I do appreciate if you guys approach me and say hi :) I won’t bite *rawr* <– I’m kidding

err.. nuff said.

lan kwai fong flaircandy hannah villasis hong kong

ahh… the busy street of Lan Kwai Fong.

We headed up to one of the clubs on top of the building.  So we headed up the hill.  I forgot the name of the place @_@ but it was SOOOO packed!

Anyway, when in Hong Kong… go to Lan Kwai Fong if you want to experience the night life.

Up next, I’m digging for our night out experience in Singapore… I just need to look for those photos somewhere… Gaaah I hate it when I loose evidence of my memories…

Laterzzz!

Boosting Your Girl Power With A!life

Boosting Your Girl Power With A!life

Ladies, admit it.  I know you all feel more powerful now with your different careers and roles in life.  I started to feel powerful the moment I graduated college and passed the CPA board exam.  Instead of celebrating, my parents said “no more allowance, you need to get a job now.” @_@ I was like “but, but, but… I don’t have a job yet!”  Well I guess, it forced me to get a job pronto!

That was scary for me at that time.  I was panicking and I was like, no more malls? no more shopping? no more food trips? Unless I get a job.  It was pretty scary but indeed it was still very empowering!

I know a lot of you girls (and even guys) can relate to this.  Doesn’t it feel great to make money on your own and to take care of yourself independently for the first time? I also know a lot of women who are housewives but it doesn’t mean they don’t have any roles at all.  Most of them are power bloggers who influence a lot of people, some are great pole dancers, while I know others who also involve themselves in great advocacies and even moms and wives whose main goal is to be the light in her household.

We put on many hats.  Me, I’m a CPA, a daughter, a friend, a blogger, pole dancer (wanna-be), writer, surfer, TV Host, Social Media Manager, digital consultant, events host, model (yes a short girl can be a model too! ;), photographer, and ok, my head aches for the many roles I need to think of.

My point is, we ladies are powerful!  We have many different roles, yet we are so good in keeping a balanced life :)

Here’s what I believe is very important in keeping up with what we are doing with our lives – great preventive health and maintained fitness.  By health I mean health in all aspects: physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually and everything else that affects our well-bing.  My goal is to share to all of you the many ways we can enjoy our different roles by being healthy and fit.  I started running, going to the gym and pole dancing to keep me physically fit.  I believe that keeping physically fit helps me boost my mental and emotional health as well.  I also started to take care of my skin more, because having fine skin is an indicator of good health.  I have also been taking Wheatgrass so that I have a healthier digestive system which is important in effectively absorbing the right nutrients.  We aim to be beautiful not only on the outside but on the inside as well.  By inside I mean healthier body cells.

A! Life Launch at Tian Di Spa

I got invited to a wellness event launch of A! Life at Tian Di just this June.

If you are all clueless about what A! Life is, here’s a short description:

“Responding to women’s specific needs, PascualLab launches new A!ife – a natural line of health supplements created especially for women. A!life’s range of products is sure to help women stay healthy by nourishing them inside and out. With its holistic approach to health, A!life is the first uni-brand of health and wellness supplements formulated especially for women. Made from natural ingredients, A!life focuses on preventive health to help women look and feel good.”

And here are the different range of A!life supplements:

  • A!life Energy, which is loaded with vitamins, amino acids and nutrients because it contains natural Malunggay leaves, giving women that extra boost of energy for optimum physical performance.
  • There’s also A!life Protect with Pycnogenol®, a super anti-oxidant that helps the immune system defend against free radicals, so health radiates through fairer skin.
  • For women who desire a slimmer figure, A!life Control may be the just the right supplement. Made from all-natural white bean extract, it blocks carbohydrates absorption so you can control weight and blood sugar levels.
  • Women who want to bring back their youthful glow can try A!life Restore with Injuv, a Hyaluronic Acid that moisturizes from within to help erase the signs of aging like wrinkles and fine lines.
  • A!life Posture not only contains Calcium but Ostivone®, which helps increase bone density to keep bones strong for better posture.
  • And, of course, there is also A!life Trim which contains Ampalaya combined with Banaba to aid in managing the blood sugar levels of those at risk of diabetes, even helping to maintain a trim figure.

We also met the different A!Life ambassadors

Namely:

  • Lucy Torres – Congresswoman and celebrity for A!life Control
  • Shawn yao – TV Personality and Pilates Enthusiast for A!life Posture
  • Lorraine Lapus – Athlete and Business Executive for A!life Energy
  • Patty Betita – Model and Image Consultant for A!life Restore; and
  • Lexi Schulze – TV Personality and Anti-cancer Advocate for A!life Protect

The event was hosted by Bianca Valerio.  She’s awesome as always!

I enrolled at one of the mini-classes they had at the event.  I signed-up for Yoga class!  I believe it will help me with balance and flexibility for my Pole fitness!

mini yoga mats 😛

as you can see, our yoga mats were a little bit tiny.

We had to do more standing yoga positions

There were many people around, including people taking photos and stuff @_@

but the teacher told us to just ignore and close our eyes if we have to

but the floor was just so tempting…

hannah villasis yoga

.. legs extend outside mat 😛 we don’t care it felt good to stretch and to focus on my breathing!

by the way, I’m wearing a black top from “For Me” and shorts from “Old Navy”

underneath my black top are Pole dancing workout clothes 😛

This was a good activity for me before my Pole class.

I need to work on my flexibility :)

Yoga and Pole dancing keeps me healthy both physically and mentally.  It’s good for my mind and body.  If I have to pick just one supplement, I would pick A!life Posture simply because I have scoliosis and I need to strengthen my bones for yoga, pole dancing and surfing 😛  This should help me avoid injury and make my bones more dense.  But, you can take more than one supplement, like I would want to also take A!life protect because I want to prevent cancer.

‘Til next time guys, until then – GIRL POWER!

xoxo,

FlairCandy

My Own FitFlops!

My Own FitFlops!

Earlier, I blogged about how Pole Dancing has helped me get over Quarter Life Crisis. I will do whatever it takes to keep dancing from now on :)  There are many things you I need to improve with my body for a long lasting pole career and that would have to be working on my flexibility, getting stronger and more toned legs so that I can grip the pole better.  These things I have to work on will surely give me more health benifits as well!

I noticed the teachers in our Pole Class better known as the Polecats wear these FitFlops… I’ve heard a great deal about them helping people avoid back aches and toning your legs… A gym within a shoe (or sandals)

And so I bought my very own pair!!! WEEE EXCITED!!!

fitflops

FitFlop footwear is biomechanically engineered to help tone and tighten your leg muscles while you walk in them. Studies at the Centre for Human Performance at LSBU show that normal walking in FitFlop sandals* can help:

  • help increase leg and bottom muscle activity (up to 30%). (so you feel less ache in your hips and knees)
  • absorb more shock than a normal shoe (up to 22%)
  • help realign ground force reaction closer to your joints

Kitteeehh!!!

to wear this so I can tone my muscles.. so that I can do more awesome Pole tricks!

Our Philippine National Gem: The South Sea Pearl

Posted by on Jun 15, 2011 in Advocacy, Featured, Palawan

Our Philippine National Gem: The South Sea Pearl

Do you know how lucky we are to be living in the Philippines?  I honestly can’t imagine myself growing up in some other place.  It has been my home for many years and I quite enjoy the bountiful natural gifts we have in our country :)  I am up for any adventure but I must say, I think I was a mermaid in my past life.

I am not really a diver (claustrophobic and ear problems), but I love being in the ocean.  I guess you can say free diving would be more of my thing.  Best thing about the ocean is – it’s free!  It’s just there, waiting to be enjoyed by everyone :)

And in the Philippines, we are quite lucky to have some of the world’s best diving spots and surf spots!  I envy some of my diver friends and how they can see the beautiful bed of corals underneath our seas.  I can only enjoy exploring shallow reefs when I snorkel, but I haven’t seen much of the world down there and I believe it’s beautiful <3

South Sea Pearl

Yes guys, we have a national gem – as declared by Pres. Fidel Ramos on Oct. 25, 1996.  It is a beautiful product of our seas – the South Sea Pearl <3

Ah… beautiful isn’t it?  there are different kinds of South Sea Pearls, different colors, shapes and characteristics but one of the rare ones are the Golden South Sea Pearls…

and yes, they come out of the Oyster in lustrous golden color – no coloring whatsoever.

You know what, after our Palawan trip… I feel like a pearl expert now… Everytime I see pearls I look at the luster, the size, the shape and I feel the texture.  I identify if it’s South Sea pearl or just fresh water pearls…

Diamonds are girl’s best friend they say, but honey, once I introduce you to Golden Pearl baby, you will fall in love <3

Unlike diamonds that are formed naturally in a harsh environment (at high pressure and high temperature), pearls are actually an indicator of our Ocean’s health!  Sadly, the world is changing and unfortunate damages in the environment like pollution, garbage and global calamities can affect the quality of the pearls.

It is really pretty <3 I fell in love with these golden pearls knowing they had to go through 323 steps to produce and 5 years in the making at least.  Apart from that, only 10% of the oysters would result in a natural golden pearl.

WOW!

So you can just imagine how valuable they are and how important it is for us to protect our seas that in turn gives us these gifts :)

More than what you see…

I know that the Golden Pearl you see is pretty, but what’s more beautiful is the story behind it all.

It’s the story of the people who initiated a movement to protect especially Palawan seas.

We visited an island in Taytay Palawan they call “Baras.”

This is a community of people who are slowly changing their lifestyles into a greener approach.  If before people are so into dynamite and cyanide fishing, kaingin (burning of trees resulting to bald islands) and harmful practices to the environment, volunteers and some staff from the pearl farm reach out to these communities and educate them on the consequences of their actions.

And now, they teach them to make their own natural fertilizers, cultivate their own lands to produce root crops, vegetables and many more.  They are also into fashion!  The picture above is of the locals making necklaces and other decorative items :)

Beautiful flowers :)

They even have a bee farm to help polenate the plants <3

At the end of our trip… I felt good about the beautiful things that I have seen and I got more inspired to take part in saving it.

I care for the world I live in and I love capturing it in photos, I love walking on it, enjoying it and sharing this wonderful world with the people I love <3

and with that, I am honored to be one of Jewelmer’s Pearl ambassadors along with top online personalities like Vince Golangco of Wheninmanila.com, Noemi Dado of AboutMyRecovery.com, Estan of EstanCabigas.com, Anna Oposa of AnnaOposa.ph, Jayvee Fernandez of ABuggedLife.com,  Kankan Ramos of Yehey.com and myself :)

now joining Piolo Pascual as Pearl Ambassador!

wee!

There are things that you can do to save our seas :)  I will share with you how you can do this soon!

Not all superheros you read in comic books have super powers like superman.  We have Batman, Green Archer and many others.  We Filipinos are also proud to have Anna Oposa who is included in Yahoo!’s seven inspiring Filipinos – modern day heros!  She may not have gills like Aquaman, but she has the passion to protect our Philippine seas :)

Know more about the Golden pearls here.

Five ways to pay tribute to Jose Rizal using your BlackBerry

Posted by on Jun 15, 2011 in Pilipinas, Tech Chic

Five ways to pay tribute to Jose Rizal using your BlackBerry

As the country commemorates Dr. Jose Rizal’s 150th birthday on June 19, BlackBerry smartphone users can take advantage of free and paid apps available from BlackBerry App World to celebrate his life and contribution to our freedom and national identity.

Here are five ideas on how you can personalize your BlackBerry to show some Philippine pride and pay tribute to our national hero.  Simply visit the links or scan the QR codes below.

Enliven your BlackBerry with a Philippine theme

This distinctly Filipino theme puts the flag’s colors into one’s BlackBerry smartphone.  The battery and signal bar are replaced with stars, while the volume and the message indicator were changed to the Philippine sun.  Instead of the usual hourglass, BlackBerry users will see the waving Philippine flag as a waiting indicator.

To get this theme, please visit http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/reviews/18936?lang=en

Get reacquainted with Rizal’s classics

When was the last time you picked up a copy of one of Rizal’s works?  BlackBerry users can rediscover his La Solidaridad essay La Indolencia delos Filipinos (http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/20250?la) or Noli Me Tangere (The Social Cancer) (http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/39492?lang=en), available on selected devices, by downloading these from BlackBerry App World and reading them using their smartphones at their leisure time.

Learn from the past

In 1890, Rizal republished Spanish lawyer Antonio de Morga’s Sucesos de las Islas Filipinas (History of the Philippine Islands to call attention to the richness of pre-colonial Filipino culture. BlackBerry users don’t need to go far and can download an English version of de Morga’s works available on selected devices by visiting http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/20099?lang=en

Connect with your loved ones through BlackBerry Messenger (BBM)

Whether he’s in Barcelona, Spain finishing Amor Patrio (Love of Country) for home newspaper Diariong Tagalog, or in Tokyo, Japan, sending post cards to his brother Paciano, Rizal did not let the distance get in the way of his connection to his home country and family.  Filipinos today have the advantage of BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), the unique messaging application that enables BlackBerry users to write with unlimited characters and reach out to loved ones even when overseas, at no extra cost to their data plan.  Unlike SMS, BBM travel as data so regardless of the number of BBM messages sent back and forth, it won’t result in outrageous phone bills.

For more information, visit http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/3729?lang=en

Discover a new local destination

Take advantage of the three day weekend to rediscover just why Rizal felt so intensely about his Patria Adorada (beloved country).  Whether you want to find flights to Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte, where Rizal was exiled for four years, or to any other local destination,   BlackBerry Travel makes it easy to plan, book, manage, and share travel activities.  Find great hotel and flight options, and get all travel updates in one place. So check it out at the bottom of this page for the link to the actual video performance of Yeng and Pedicab’s Mash-up.

Skin Hydration – A Key to Younger Looking Skin

Skin Hydration – A Key to Younger Looking Skin

Dear readers,

Since I am already in my mid 20s (let’s not be specific), I have been obsessed in staying young!  I can feel many changes since I was 18, and mind you, the earlier you start in taking care of your body, the better.  I’m talking not only about the food you eat, the lifestyle you live, but also that one protective layer of skin that covers your body.

For me, the number one factor in keeping your skin soft and supple is not to dry it!

On my first date ever, I was so conscious of my hands… What if he touches my hand? it felt so rough at that time!  I felt like an old witch and not Snow White!  Then and there, I know I had to keep on paying attention to my skin!  I buy lotions left and right, but the trickier part is the skin on my face!

It’s so sensitive that I can’t just put on anything.  My main problem is that I have a combination skin.  I am very oily on my T-zone especially when I think a lot.  When I work or when I studied for my board exams before.   But outside that, my skin felt so dry…

meeeh…

Women, as a rule will desire soft and smooth skin yet in between facials this is a little difficult to achieve. Keeping skin hydrated is very important as it gives you smooth and supple skin. After all, healthy-looking skin is made up of high percentage of water. Without adequate hydration, your skin will look stressed-out, showing unwanted signs such as excessive shine, fine lines and lack of radiance.

What makes facial skin rough?

The lack of water makes the skin rough and sets the stage for fine lines and wrinkles. But what most people don’t know is that oil and water are two different things when it comes to skin care. We use oil-based moisturizers that only add excess oil to the surface of our skin. What you really need for hydration is to increase the water content in your skin. Water easily evaporates and dries out the skin, leaving it sallow and lifeless. Soft dewy and supple skin is ideal, but how do we get it? First we need to understand why the skin gets rough and what we do on a daily basis to contribute with loss of hydration from our skin.

  1. In the morning, rushing out without sun block will contribute to all sorts of short and long- term skin problems. The sun is the primary cause of premature aging and exposure to the sun contributes to fine lines and dehydrated skin.
  2. Your daily dose of caffeine sucks moisture out of your skin.
  3. Aircon dehydrates your skin. Spending long periods of time in an air-conditioned room or environment dries out and stresses your delicate facial skin.
  4. Stress, overwork and sleep deprivation causes the skin to be unbalanced. The result is dry, dull and dehydrated skin.
  5. Drink lots of water. Juices and teas are not substitutes for water. Take water to replenish water loss from your skin and your system. Remember that water is the key to hydration.

The solution:

The solution can be summed up in one word, WATER! Oil and water are two essential elements to make your skin soft, smooth and supple. Yet, most women shy away from moisturizers because it makes their skin oily. True, most moisturizers contain oil that adds even more oil to your face, which you are trying to lessen in the first place. Again, the answer is water! Dehydrated skin is dry, sallow and lifeless because it lacks water. Water will add plum, glow and radiance to the skin’s overall appearance and make it softer, smoother and more supple. Ideal skin is hydrated skin.

Hydro Boost!

Neutrogena recently came out with a product that would solve this, and I had to test it myself!

I tested this on my left hand… leaving my right hand as is…  It’s usually for the face, but I don’t have fine wrinkles yet 😛 so my hand is perfect for this…

and this is the result

*I put the contrast on higher settings just so that you can see better…

I wish you could touch my hand too so that you can feel the difference 😛

Anyway, it feels great that my left hand feels more moisturized without feeling oily.

In Focus: Kristin Schrot DJ Miss Nine

Girl Power at its best!

DJ-miss-nine-kristin-schrot

In the heavily male dominated DJ market, it is rare to find a female DJ who can create a huge impact on the scene in a short amount of time. Miss Nine has not only been able to outshine and make her presence known in such a world, but she has done so all within five years of picking up a record. With her eclectic taste in music, ranging from energetic grooves with plenty of vocals to a deeper, progressive sound, Miss Nine is sure to turn heads and move feet any where she performs.

Kristin Schrot began her career, not as a DJ, but as a model. At 16, she made it to the finals of one of the largest modeling pageants in Germany, and soon after secured a worldwide contract with Elite Model Management. Longing for more, her passion for music led Kristin to move to Amsterdam where she dubbed herself Miss Nine and began pursuing a career in the electronic industry.

Only a few months after touching the decks for the first time, she became a resident DJ at the locally legendary Motion parties where she evolved as an artist and DJ while playing alongside masters such as John Digweed, Dave Seaman, Nick Warren, and James Zabiela. In 2003 she began touring abroad and even made an appearance as the youngest artist at the 10th edition of Dance Valley.

At the end of 2005, Miss Nine was asked by Grammy Award winning DJ duo Deep Dish to join Bullitt Bookings, the reputable agency of A-list DJs such as Deep Dish, Nic Fanciulli, and Danny Howells. This merger has allowed Miss Nine to explode onto the forefront of the DJ scene. Miss Nine performs around the world, spinning at clubs such as Pacha in Ibiza, Space in Miami, Avalon in LA, Mansion in New York, Warung in Brazil, and Ministry of Sound in London, with her fan base multiplying by the minute..

Miss Nine is the first female to mix a compilation for Washington-based Yoshitoshi Recordings, the world- renowned leader in progressive and big-room house music. The highly anticipated Yoshitoshi Ibiza mixed by Miss Nine (YRCDLP15) was released in September 2006. Less than four months later the album reached the highest position at the iTunes Dance Album Chart in the USA: number 1! To continue this success Miss Nine released an album on the world famous Armada label: Dancefloor Sessions (ARMA134) in June 2008. Miss Nine is currently busy with mixing a second Yoshitoshi album. Don’t forget to turn on your internet radio station: Miss Nine hosts her own radio shows Nine Sessions at more than 30 radio stations worldwide, including DI.fm, Proton and Frisky.

While enduring this exhausting tour schedule, Miss Nine still works fulltime as model for Elite. Total Care for Oral Hygiene Pledge

Total Care for Oral Hygiene Pledge

Every tooth in a man’s head is more valuable than a diamond. ~Miguel de Cervantes, Don Quixote, 1605

I would totally agree.  You cannot replace a lost tooth.  Well, yes you can artificially, but it’s never the same as the original one.

With these, I pledge to take Total Care of my teeth, gums and mouth.  I have very sensitive gums, and caring for just teeth alone is not enough.  My mouth is very small and my teeth are crowded.  Inspite of the fact that I had 4 teeth removed already (wisdom tooth), my teeth still feels crowded and brushing alone will not reach those tight places in between my teeth.  The dentist said, this is a breeding groud for bacteria and other eeky microorganisms.

I don’t want that and like I said, I won’t only take care of my teeth, but my gums too and whatever goes in between!

The dentist said, the best way to take care of oral health is to brush, floss and gargle!

It is my 2nd week of doing this everyday: Brush, Floss and Gargle.  I take longer turns in the bathroom because of this, but I couldn’t take the risk of loosing my teeth.  It doesn’t even take that long because gargling only takes 30 seconds and yet it will give me 6 benefits:

  • breaks through plaque
  • keeps teeth white
  • kills 99% of germs
  • gives 24-hour fresh breath
  • helps keep teeth strong
  • maintains healthy gums

For only 30 seconds of my life for better oral condition, why not?

Ending Quarter Life Crisis

Ending Quarter Life Crisis

Sleepless nights, uncertainty, lack of purpose, thinking too much about the future…  And you don’t even know what’s wrong!  Oh yes, the much dreaded quarter-life crisis.  I’ve been ranting about it on my blog since December just to let it out of my system and I’ve been depressed and it was dissappointing for me how I could see other people get affected by my dilemma. So to all my friends and loved ones who held my hand when I was feeling down – Thank you!

It’s that stage in your life where you’re too old to depend on anyone, but you’re not wise enough yet.  I feel like I had no direction and I wasn’t going anywhere.

I’m sure I’m not alone in this.  A few of my friends are also feeling this way.  We even thought of seeking for professional help.  When you think you need this, maybe you do need one and there’s nothing wrong asking for help with your problem.  Even the big hollywood stars have their own therapists.  Props to Demi Lovato who voluntarily admitted herself to a rehab facility – not because of drugs, but because of emotional issues.

And what is up with people asking me “when are you settling down?” Or “when are you going to get married?” It izzzz none of your business, trust me… asking me that question won’t make you rich… and it doesn’t help me neither >.<

Dancing Again

I have always been happy when I dance.  I have been a dancer since elementary and high school and at that early age, I had small gifts on my classroom desk from “fans” from the lower grade.  Thinking about that always makes me smile.  It’s one thing to have male fans, but to put a smile on a kid and inspiring them is a great feeling!  I felt like I was Hannah Montana lol.  (but she didn’t exist yet at that time) I danced pretty much everything: from hiphop to cheerleading, ballet, jazz and even Folk Dancing.  We would compete in Literary NOPSSCEA competitions.

Good ‘ol days… But, one dance I don’t seem comfortable doing is anything with sexy moves @_@

College came and I danced for a year.  I had to stop on my 2nd year for a very shallow reason.  It was the year I turned 18 and allowed myself to have a boyfriend.  I hated myself everytime I think about this.  My boyfriend then (now my ex) didn’t want me to dance especially cheerleading because he doesn’t want other guys to see me dance and he doesn’t want guys to catch me when I do my stunts and stuff. >.<  I was so immature and I don’t know why I found some logic to that… I vomit just thinking of it again.  Girls, if your boyfriends bring you down from your crown, LEAVE THEM! They are no good for you!  Surround yourself with people who allow you to grow as you wish.  At that time, I also got busier with my Accounting course so I stopped.

Graduation day, I cried… because I didn’t get the award for “Dance” :( and I looked back thinking I can’t bring back the years I stopped dancing.

Dancing makes me Happy

This year, I decided to follow my happiness and dance again!  not only that, I dared myself to dance the only dance I don’t do… something sexy, something challenging!

Pole Dancing

I have been wanting to try this for so long.  I just got caught up in my web of excuses because I was feeling down. My boyfriend supports me of course a 100%!  All it takes is finally DOING IT!  both excited and worried at the same time, I made my way to Polecats Manila at Gen Studios.

I started Pole dancing mid April and I was so delighted to know that they will be having a recital!  I signed up immediately because I wanted to feel the euphoria of dancing on the stage again – performing with a real audience!  I found out that there are more benefits to joining Pole classes: new friends, great teachers, fun way of keeping fit and developing strength, I feel young again, I felt more confident – happy and wait a minute – I don’t feel down anymore.  I have been Pole Dancing for a month and a half now and I completely feel great!

Is this an end to my QLC? I really do hope so.

I met miss Yoga Jane yesterday at an event and she told me she just saw my Pole Dancing recital photos.  “Seems like you found the right thing for you”  oh yes!  I still think about my future sometimes, but I don’t worry anymore.  From now on, I just keep on “DOING”

End your Quarter Life Crisis!

If you are going through this, here are a few tips based on my personal experience: (I am not a doctor nor an expert on this, it’s just my opinion)

1.  Do the thing that keeps you happy and invest on it.  It’s your hapiness, you deserve it!

2.  Surround yourself with positive people, people who grow with you

3.  Feed your mind with positive thoughts.  Read books about personal help,

4.  Avoid negative ideas.  Avoid watching movies that doesn’t teach you anything especially horror, gory films that will only provoke fear and terror in your heart.  Avoid people who put you down.  When you’re undergoing QLC, you are more sensitive to even the littlest things.

5.  Don’t sweat the small stuff. So what if you missed a deadline? So what if you failed at something? So what if you humiliated yourself for some reason.  Who cares? You’re driving and someone cut on you – so what? it took away 2 seconds of your life.

Book recommendation:

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff by Richard Carlson

It’s all about simple ways to keep the little things from overtaking your life.

One of the best books I’ve ever read that really helped me a lot!

6.  Stay pretty!  don’t forget to take care of yourself.  Dress up, go to the gym, pamper yourself.  Vanity is not a sin, Laziness (or sloth) is!  If you don’t take care of yourself, you will just feel more horrible.

7.  Smile!

8.  Keep healthy and fit.  You might be clinically depressed and your body might lack the nutrients it needs.

9.  Seek professional help if needed

10. Move on.  It’s something that I learned from reading Miss J Alexander’s book “Follow the Model” No matter what happens, MOVE ON!

These tips are not only for my readers, but for me as well – as a reminder to myself how to keep moving on.  Who knows, QLC is a biatch and it might come back, so I’m prepared with this!

Also, you might want to buy Meg’s June 2011 :) They had an article writen by Aileen E about Quarter Life Crisis.  Also, I am in the pages of Meg’s June 2011 as one of the 25 young achievers they featured for their 13th anniversary issue!

Ending with a song from Bob Marley :)
