No Other Woman

No Other Woman

Two beautiful ladies, one hunky!

Derek Ramsay, Christine Reyes and Anne Curtis

When it comes to local Pinoy movies, I try not to watch the trailer at all.  Because most of the time they kinda give out everything.  I’m glad I didn’t watch the trailer because I had no clue at all what’s going to happen.

But if you insist, here’s the trailer.  Don’t say I didn’t warn you 😛

My Review of No Other Woman

I was shocked that the seats were full on a Wednesday afternoon.  Take note, there were still offices at that time… and so we had to buy tickets for the evening instead which was almost full too.

It’s a movie about temptation.

In an adult world, this mostly happens now.  And I know a lot of people can relate making this movie quite popular.  Aside from an all-star cast people enjoyed the remarkable lines throughout the movie.

I say don’t criticize this movie too much, just enjoy and watch.  I found myself laughing too even though this movie is a drama.

Notable lessons in life:

– When you cheat, it’s a stress fest!

– If you want drama – then cheat!

– Temptation lurks and rises when you are vulnerable.

– But these things are always fun only in the beginning.

– Someone’s always gonna be hurt, including you.  So you have to choose.

– Don’t play with emotions – this world now has a lot of crazy people you never know what they’re gonna do

– Some say it’s not cheating unless you get caught – but hey hey, most of the time the other party senses your naughty deeds

– If you marry a man who cheats on his wife, you’ll be married to a man who cheats on his wife

– If you’re dating a guy who cheated on his girlfriend, you’ll be dating a guy who cheats on his girlfriend

Are you enlightened? or are you scared now lol.. I’m just kidding!  Do you have any more quotable quotes regarding infidelity?  Share in the comment section below and let’s have fun!

My favorite one: “Ang mundo ay isang malaking Quiapo, maraming snatcher! Maaagawan ka!

Smart Netphone 701 Review

Earlier on I blogged about getting to touch the new Smart Netphone firsthand that will revolutionize the way we communicate today. Blog post here.

Credit: Sexy Nomad

I received a unit for loan to review so that I can test further the features of this new SmartPhone!

Let’s jump to the key items that the Smart Netphone has.  I listed them down in bullet points and followed by pictures below.

Highlights and notes for Smart Netphone

netphone 2Smart Netphone 1

  • The first Netphone is introduced via Netphone 701
  • Netphone 701 is the first of many more models lined up by Smart
  • Costs only P9,999 and the next netphones could get more and more affordable
  • Access your Social Stream via SmartNet where you can link your Facebook and Twitter account for free! This doesn’t include photo uploads and viewing for the free streaming though (not yet)
  • Instant message for Yahoo messenger and Facebook chat all you want for free!
  • You need to maintain P1 load (not so hard to do)
  • If you need to use the internet for browins, there’s always their different affordable prepaid plans depending on your needs (I use Always ON 300)
  • SUPER USEFUL FEATURE: one swipe and you’ll see your running balance (your remaining load for prepaid and usage for plans)
  • Android 2.2 froyo platform – download all the games and apps you want
  • Safe Browse feature – allows you to turn on and off the regular internet feature.  Still, you remain connected to smart.com.ph and all SmartNet services
  • Biggest phonebook ever storing your contacts on the web in the cloud.  I love this feature, meaning when your phone gets stolen, you can still recover your phonebook!

All in all, you get a good Android smartphone for only P9,999.  I bought a smartphone (another brand) before that costed around P12,000 as a gift for someone.  I thought it was a steal because of the price but seriously – the brand new phone lagged like crazy!!!  So holding a P9,999 android phone that runs fast, is responsive, large screen and can do the many things an android phone can do (and more) – I’d have to say this is a winner in its price range.

Smart Netphone Software

The Smart Netphone currently runs on Android Froyo plus an inclusion of an exclusive SmartNet services integrated to the phone.  It allows users of the SmartPhone to view their current balance, IM, Facebook and Twitter at zero cost.  Like I noted above, you’d have to maintain at least P1 load though to use this but really, this is not hard to do.

I have tested the IM for a week now and I am enjoying free long-distance text-based conversations with friends.  It works just like sms, but it’s free.  It’s also functions like Blackberry’s BBM.

Netphone software might have some updates and updating is very convenient placing an automatic app to do it for you.  I haven’t received any update notifications yet so I haven’t tested that feature.

It depends from person to person but generally the SmartNet is user-friendly especially to the ones who are familiar with Android phones already.  You might need to get some being used to with the SmartNet integration, registration and how it works.  If you get confused, just head on to their official website that I listed on related links below.

GEDC0024Smart Netphone

Setup was easy

Smart Netphone

The phone is full touch screen.  Tap on the SmartNet button to activate, deactivate internet connection.

When you’re on SmartNet mode, you can access IM Twitter and Facebook without being charged.

Smart Netphone

Switch to Internet mode for full browsing.  This will charge you P10 for 30 mins or whatever plan you have availed

Smart Netphone

A warning sign if you want to turn on full internet browsing with charges

Smart Netphone

It’s a sample of a status that I seeded through SmartNet network, Twitter and Facebook

Smart Netphone

I had to blur my number of course, but it shows you your load balance if you are prepaid or the amount used if you are post paid.

The Netphone 701 retails for P9 900 and is available free with as low as an P800 postpaid plan.

With the Netphone, Smart expects to trigger a shift for some 30 million online Filipinos to start doing their favorite Internet activities such as social networking and chatting primarily through their mobile device and in bite sized amounts.

Beyond Blogging, Easy Pha-max Wheatgrass Blogger Contest

If you are a blogger, a freelance writer, or if you have extra time with you, then I think you would love to turn time into gold — to go beyond blogging, think business and become an entrepreneur.

A blogging contest  for Filipino bloggers living in the Philippines was launched on 17 September by Easy Pha-max Phils. Inc. at the Blogapalooza One held at Fully Booked in Fort Bonifacio Global City.

Easy Pha-max offers a range of health products that I use myself especially the Wheatgrass honey!  Drinking Wheatgrass adds value not only to my body but for the many things that I do.

This is for you if you want to win P10K for blogging

Open to all bloggers, the contest has a theme “Why I should be an Easy Livelihood member” which candidates have to develop in not more than 500 words.

For interested bloggers to be able to develop the theme, they will  be invited by Easy Pha-max to attend a half-day Easy Livelihood seminar which the company conducts  every Saturday.

Bloggers will be asked to come to any of these dates, Sept. 24, October 1 /8/ 15.

The contest  begins on September 25 and ends October 25.  Five winners will be selected and this will be announced on November 4 in the company’s  Wheatgrass C.A.N. Facebook page.

The top winner will receive P10,000. Four consolation prizes will be in cash, from P2,000 to P5,000 according to ranking.

The contest, according to Easy Pha-max, is an opportunity for bloggers to know more about the company’s products and services.  It will also be a door-opener  for any blogger to earn additional income by becoming an entrepreneur at a very small investment of P5,000.

Mechanics of the contest are posted on the company website at www.wheatgrasscan.com.

Good Hair, Bad Hair

Good Hair, Bad Hair

A fine head of hair adds beauty to a good face, and terror to an ugly one. ~Lycurgus

Just borrowed this quote from Lycurgus – an ancient name, a law-giver in Sparta. Even in the old times, they recognize that hair is a big part of your appearance. Hair influences our over-all look. It could add beauty or terror.

Terror – big word!

Why terror? Remember in those horror movies where you see a ghost in really creepy hair? (I was supposed to insert a picture of Sadako, but upon Google-ing it, it scared the hell out of me!!!)

Such big words. But does hair really matter?

To me, it is. I was so bored with my flat, black hair that I’ve had for 20 years and I decided to tinker with it. I did a hair rebond, and had my hair colored to suit my skin tone. I was very happy with the results and my boyfriend even commended my new look! I felt so nice that day. But, this beautiful hair needed to be maintained.

I didn’t know how.

And so I witnessed it dying – drying out, from a very silky straight hair to a wavy rude hair.

The only thing I’m thankful for is when my hair dilemma had perfect timing. A year ago, I tried out this Mystery Shampoo. There was no brand sticker and it only had a question mark.

Read all about my experience about the mystery shampoo here.

It was revealed after 14 days – and just like I suspected, it was Pantene.  My mom’s favorite shampoo.

It’s very hard to maintain a lively hair color that’s why I’m so keen even when brushing it when it’s wet.

And with my demanding lifestyle – it’s an extra challenge. Sand, Salt, Sea and Sand!

But I keep my hair this way…

Long, manageable and full of color!

My hair is exposed to a lot of challenges and so far, the only thing that’s keeping it healthy is keeping a healthy diet, monthly hair spa and Pantene.

Since my hair strands are thin, Pantene’s unbeatable damage protection helps in keeping my locks intact!  Compared to before, my shower floor barely has any hair strands this time!

But that’s just me, other people also feel the same way – starting with my mom who has always been using this shampoo ever since I was a kid.

Then, the many celebrities who need to keep their hair smooth and silky all the time.

Check out their testimonials about Pantene here.

So ladies, will you settle for anything less than the unbeatable?  ‘Coz I wont.  that’s why 150,000,000 women, including myself, have chosen Pantene to give us unbeatable damage protection.

Are you a believer of Pantene?  Visit Pantene Philippines’ official Facebook Page and share your own Pantene unbeatable damage protection story.

http://facebook.com/pantenephilippines

Discover Pantene for yourself.  You try, you decide.

*This post is sponsored by Pantene, but the experiences I shared are my own.

Humility

Humility

Sometimes I think I’m too friendly that I can’t say “no”.

Sometimes, I underestimate my value.  I thought I was being humble.  But it’s not.

What is humility?

Humility is freedom from pride and arrogance.  It’s a modest estimate of one’s own worth.

But clearly, I have undervalued my own worth.

It only took a friend’s word to make me realize this.  Today, a friend told me that I could do more when I focus and that I am beyond my current self-evaluated state.

Only a genuine friend would help a lost sheep in the big city.

You know who you are friend, thank you!  Thank you for changing my life!

I just realized today that I am more than what I have been seeing myself.

Amber lounge is the hottest, most exclusive after party in the F1 world. It’s the party everyone’s looking forward to. Amber Lounge only happens in selected countries and Singapore is one of them!  I dream to also experience Amber Lounge in Monaco!

Remember that scene in Iron Man 2 where Tony Spark used his portable suit of armor?

They were battling at the F1 race track!  On another scene, you will see him partying at Monaco’s podium lounge.  I just dream of joining celebrities all around the world in Amber Lounge and follow it wherever it goes.

I absolutely want to rub shoulders with these VIPs and meet Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonzo and cutie Nico Rosberg up close!   They are my favorite F1 drivers!  I hope I get invited to this event in my lifetime because this is the only thing I haven’t experienced in the world of F1 Singapore.  This definitely is an addition to my list of things-to-do-before-I-die.

Amber Lounge is sure one exclusive party playground that you don’t want to miss if you can!  I heard in the news that in 2010, drivers like Reubens Barichello had a blast and his testimonial was quotted in Amber Lounge’s official website.

For the second time, Amber Lounge Singapore will include Amber Lounge Fashion again this year!  This is the second Amber Lounge fashion show that has ever happened outside of Monaco.  Graced by world famous designer Herve Leger by Max Azria, the night will sure satisfy your fashion senses as they showcase their signature bandage dresses alongside F1 stars!

Zoom Zoom Pow: F1 Singapore Night Race 2011 Updates

Whenever you attend or watch F1, there’s always motorsport drama!

You are going to live louder than life at this year’s Grand Prix Season Singapore as it returns from September 16 – 25, 2011 to complement the world’s only Formula One night race.  This is the fourth year that Singapore is hosting the night race and my love for F1 and the Singapore night race never fades.

Formula One ticket holders allows them to access a line-up of more than 300 entertainers – but more importantly, witness the most luxurious sport in the world – the Formula One Grand Prix!

F1 Singapore Grand Prix, GPSS

A lot of F1 racing fans debate and comment on the many rules in Formula 1 racing that it seems like it’s not racing anymore!  They have refueling and tire rules, overtaking guidelines and many other rules.

But I think rules are there for the benefit of everyone… And despite these budget and safety rules – F1 is still a very exciting sport to watch!

Lewis Hamilton had troubles overtaking Michael Schumacher in the last Italian Grand Prix saying “He’s moving all over the place.”   For those of you who aren’t motorsports fans and don’t know Lewis Hamilton, he is the current boyfriend of hot lead Pussycat Doll Nicole Sharzinger!  Get the connection now?  Anyway, Lewis was as asked if Michael Schumacher’s driving had been fair on their latest Italian Grand Prix and he said “Yeah, that’s racing.”

The drama and the action doesn’t end!  Formula 1 is more than just speeding cars passing you by, there’s a whole lot story behind every team, every driver!

What to expect on F1 Singapore Grand Prix

Spoiler alert you guys, but Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull-Renault) is winning the driver’s championship.  Sebastian Vettel won last year’s F1 championship and he is set to retain his title this year.

This was acknowledged by Fernando Alonzo (Ferarri) when he conceded  the F1 title to Vettel and is now focused on finishing the race.

“Six races to go so obviously the championship is impossible,” said Alonso. “Not mathematically but we are no longer in contention.  We are fighting for second place in the championship.”

Mark Webber, Sebastian Vettel’s team mate also conceded.

The drivers may have conceded on the F1 overall championship title, but they are still battling for 2nd place and for raising their team’s overall score!

My Bet

I don’t bet professionally, but I have my own favorite drivers.  My favorite F1 driver is Kimi Raikkonen.  Whenever he’s around to drive, there’s more drama.  People love and hate him.  Aside from his good looks *wink* he is one great street driver!  Ferrari decided not to let him drive on 2010, replacing him with Fernando Alonzo.  But since Kimi still had a contract with Ferarri, they had to pay him to the rest of the contract just so he would not drive.

But I think he didn’t deserve to get replaced.  The Ferrari cars are not modeled to their best unlike before.  Even the replacement Fernando Alonzo, who I believe is another good driver, could make they wonky Ferrari car fly.

As for my current favorite driver, it would be Sebastian Vettel.  I applaud his fashion style on the track, his passion for racing and his miracle win last year!

If Vettel wins Singapore GP this year, it will be his 9th victory.

Plus, he looks like Justin Bieber when the Biebs grows up.

Grand Prix Season Singapore Formula 1 Updates

Are you ready for the Singapore night race?

Well, it’s up next in the Formula 1 Calendar.  Italian Grand Prix just got concluded over the weekend and surprise surprise, Vettel won.  There was a little bit of drama between Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher.  And whatever the standings in the Italian Grand Prix will somehow influence the next race – Singapore!

But, drivers and teams can totally turn it around

Latest standings of Formula 1 drivers and teams are as follows (before Singapore GP):

*F1 stats compiled by F1Fanatic.

Share the exhilarating F1 racing experience, from the drivers and the track, to the only night race on the F1 calendar – the F1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix – along with accessory races, the JK Racing Asia Series and the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.

F1 Spectators

There will be celebrities, people from all over the world, F1 motor fans, bloggers, party-goers, corporate people – everyone will be there to get a chance to enjoy the Formula 1 race in the lush city of Singapore.

I might be there 😀 and so will my friends! I’m so excited!

F1 Singapore Grand Prix for Geeks – La Terra Al Centro Dell ‘Universo

The word “Geek” has transformed over time.  Back then it was such an anti-social term.

But right now, when you say geek, you think Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg.

As a kid, I had this great passion for numbers and science.  Yes, you’d call me a geek nerd.  I was a bookworm as well and the bookstore and the library was my happy place.  I wanted to be astronaut as a kid.  But when I grew up, that dream perished because I know it’s not happening for me here in the Philippines.

I just have to satisfy my craving for learning of the outer space by watching science fiction like The Justice League, Superman, Smallville, Roswell, etc.

It was, and still is my dream of seeing the earth from outer space!

If you have some little bit of geek bones in your system and you want to take a look at the Milky Way Galaxy – AND, you are watching F1 in Singapore, then here’s one sure way to make that dream come true.

Zone 1 and Premier Walkabout ticket holders for F1 Singapore can take a surreal walk through the Milky Way, accompanied with contemporary music and movie soundtracks, as the F1 Village near Gate 1 will be illuminated by recreations of 10 planets based on actual NASA imagery.

The La Terra Al Centro Dell ‘Universo is a visual spectacle specially commissioned for the Grand Prix Season Singapore night race with the largest planet hovering at 5-meters tall.  It spans across a 40m x 40m area.  The magnificence of this installation is best seen and experienced after dark.

Experience Grand Prix Season Singapore by planning your luxurious sporting vacation now.  Singapore Airlines offers all-in packages starting at USD 920/person.  This special rate includes roundtrip economy class airfare with airport transfers, 3N/4D hotel acommodations, Philippine travel tax & fuel surchare and a FORMULA ONE race ticket (Zone 4 Walkabout Pass for 3 days).

Sentosa – iFly, Segway, Sky Ride, Tiger Tower

Posted by on Sep 7, 2011 in Singapore, Travel

Sentosa – iFly, Segway, Sky Ride, Tiger Tower

On our last day in Singapore, we snuck in an afternoon trip to Sentosa to experience: Segway, 4D Cinema, Tiger Tower and the Sky Ride.

We all wanted to try the iFly, but we lacked time.  iFly is a Sky Diving simulator.

You are literally defying gravity here because you will be flying with no harness or anything at all – without the many dangers of Sky Diving.  Pretty cool huh?  iFly is Sentosa’s newest attraction.  The iFly will take at least 2 hours of your time because they need to quickly train you.

Our afternoon started with a hearty lunch at Tastes of Asia.

Tastes of Asia - Sentosa Singapore

We met the ladies who keep Sentosa interesting and fun!

barleyTastes of Asia Sentosa Singapore spaghetti

I ordered Barley for drinks and Spaghetti.  Everyone in our table ordered either Laksa or Chicken Rice.  I was in the mood for some pasta at that time.

We had Samosa for appetizers.  The wasabi cream sauce sealed the deal!

The Laksa was so delicious! So shiok! There are different kinds of laksa.  One that is common in Malaysia is the sour one.  In Singapore, they mostly serve the laksa with coconut oil.  And this is the one.

Segway Ride at Sentosa

Pardon me, but this was my first time riding a Segway 😛

Unfortunately I don’t have a photo of myself Segway-ing… only this:

But here’s everyone else!

It was soooo much fun!  I want to buy one – or buy all Filipinos a Segway so that our air is cleaner!

Sentosa Sky Ride

Next up is the Sky Ride.  We needed to go to the other side of Sentosa anyway.

sky ride sentosa

Your feet are dangling as you sit on a floating bench!  Scary? To some maybe, but you’ll overcome it!  Just hold on to your seat tight!

sky ride sentosa

Ferdz, Winston, Marcos and me… On the other picture – Estan and other bloggers 😀

sky ride

The view from the Sky Ride was breathtaking and relaxing.  And we saw this mini-island with words “Marry Me”  Aww… someone proposed on that day and I think it was a sweet gesture!

Beneath us is the Luge track.  The luge is a downhill ride.

luge sentosa

We heard kids screaming below.  We thought someone got hurt.  Then we saw this big monitor lizard passing by their way.

What I love about Sentosa is that they don’t kill or capture the animals living on the island.  And yes, they are “Wild” animals.  They don’t feed them, they just live on their own.  You could also sea peacocks here most of the time, showing off their magnificent tail!

Sentosa Tiger Tower

We went to the 4D Cinema next.  Uhmmm, put your gadgets inside your bag if you don’t want them to get wet.  You’re not allowed to take photos inside anyway.

After that we walked a few steps to the Tiger Tower for a 360 degree view of Sentosa and Singapore.

tiger tower sentosa

All you have to do when you go inside is to sit back, relax and enjoy the view.

Siloso Beach

Palawan Beach

We asked them if it is named after our very own Palawan islands here in the Philippines – and they have no clue why it was named that way.  If you know the history to this island, let me know in the comment section below!

Cable Car Ride to Jewel Box and Harbor Front

Another way to enjoy a top view of Singapore Harbor is to ride the Cable car.  There are three ways you can go to Sentosa from the main island: Bus ride, the monorail and the cable car!  You can also rent a cable car for a night to a dinner date!  We were told that there were a lot of marriage proposals that happened here already!

I havent tried riding the cable car at night, but it must be spectacular.  Seeing the colorful Singapore skyline that features the Singapore Flyer and the Marina Bay Sands – it should be a wonderful sight!

We also dropped by Jewel Box at Mount Faber.  It has fine dining restaurants and a really nice place to hang out!

KL Tower – Menara Kuala Lumpur

Posted by on Sep 6, 2011 in Uncategorized

KL Tower – Menara Kuala Lumpur

I’ve been to Malaysia a few times, but I’ve never gone up either the KL Tower or the Petronas Towers.

But alas, on our day trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia I finally experienced it!

This is the KL Tower or the Menara Kuala Lumpur

Malay vocubulary 101:

Menara means Tower

The KL Tower is used mainly for communication purposes. this is currently the second tallest freestanding tower in the world.

You can climb the tower via stairs – or use the high speed elevators to come up. I advice the elevators, no doubt about that 😛

Apart from this tower being used for communication purposes, it has also been a tourist attraction.

And, one of the tourists is me.  Got this nice view of the Petronas Towers!

Above the tower is a 360 degrees observation deck with powerful telescopes.

Our tour guide was kind enough to show me how to take photos of what can be seen in the telescope.  And here are the pictures I took using my digital camera:

for this picture, I forgot to turn the flash off.  But hey, accident’s cause better art at times and I love the result!

What you see here is the Petronas tower’s topmost part.

Merdeka Square from KL Tower

This is the Merdeka Square viewed from above the KL Tower.

Sweet right?

And here’s the view from above.

The queue wasn’t long when we were there and I suggest you to visit this tower if you’re in Malaysia.  Compared to KLCC tower, I heard you need to queue at 6am.  Entrance there is free but you need to line up and wait for the openeing because visitor’s entry is limited.

Fly to Singapore and Sail on a Cruise Ship to Malaysia

This trip was part of AirPhil Express’ Fly and Sail adventour package.  We only had a day trip in Malaysia but I think it was about enough time to go around the major landmarks.  What I like about sailing is that I need not pack my bags to go to another country because I can leave my things in the ship.  No hotel transfers or whatever.

Port Klang to Thean Hou Temple

Posted by on Sep 6, 2011 in Malaysia, Travel

Port Klang to Thean Hou Temple

Malaysia is a multi-cultural country.  Mostly resided by Malay and Chinese people.  A lot of Filipinos and other expats now live here as well.

With this, they have mosques, churches and chinese temples.

We were sailing aboard the SuperStar Virgo overnight from Singapore and docked early morning at Port Klang, Malaysia.  It was a very nice experience.  I slept, when we were in Singapore – and when I woke up, this was my view :)

This was our view of the port while we were enjoying a festive breakfast buffet at the Mediterranean restaurant.  I swear, food never ran out and I gained like 3 pounds over the trip – but I don’t care!

Food is part of the trip and I choose to enjoy it!

Port Klang looked gloomy as it rained early in the morning.  I was happy that it did.  I remembered the first time I went to malaysia and it was so hot! Hotter than in the Philippines.  The rain, regulated the temperature a bit.

I remembered having a sore throat and that bothered my sleep in the cabin.  I only felt relieved when I drank Jas’ Pei Pa Koi – a chinese all-around cough medicine.  That was already 4am so I barely had any sleep and so I slept through the entire trip from Klang to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

When I woke up, I was greeted with bright colors evoking words like “Good morning Hannah”

I love colors!  We went down and toured around the temple.

Thean Hou Temple

It was one big temple.  We had to climb a flight of stairs up the tower.  That definitely woke me up.

There were a lot of people, and I even noticed a couple getting wed.  The tour guide then explained that the Thean Hou temple offers fortune telling and marriage registration services.  She was like “If you have your boyfriend or girlfriend with you, you can already get married right here right now.” 😛

Thean Hou Temple, candle

We went inside the alter and saw people praying and meditating.

The temple was so big, but if you look at the details, you will see that it is carefully crafted.

Thean Hou Temple

One example is their ceiling.  I know nothing about architecture, but it looked like they sure put a lot of work on this one.

In addition to the altar in the prayer hall, there is also a smaller statue of Guan Yin to the right of the hall, set amongst rocks and falling water. Here one can kneel and receive a blessing of water from the statue. Outside the temple at the entrance to the grounds, there is a larger statue, similarly set amongst rocks and falling water.

Other features include a Chinese Medicinal Herbs Garden, a Wishing Well as well as a Tortoise Pond.

Finally there is a large statue of the goddess opposite the temple, along with a collection of other large statues that include representations of the twelve animals of Chinese astrology.

Traditional Chinese exercise and martial arts activities such as Qigong, tai-chi and wushu classes are conducted at the Thean Hou temple.

I was inspired by the details of the temple that I opened my perspective to recognize the tiny things in my environment, including this flower.

this was a really tiny flower.  But, it’s beautiful and it looks fresh.  It’s like the world i want to live in!

I went to a Chinese temple in Cebu, Philippines about over a year ago and what the fortune teller told me was “A very handsome guy will propose to you in marriage this year.”  I was like – “what?” But, I asked about my career and there he is, predicting my love life. But to make the story short, it didn’t happen guys 😛  Maybe I wasn’t concentrating enough.

hmmm, how about you guys, do you have any Chinese temple stories?  Please share below!

More to come in our Malaysia experience: Menara KL or KL Tower, KLCC and docking at Port Klang and Thean Hou Temple

Live Louder Than Life at Grand Prix Season Singapore

Live Louder Than Life at Grand Prix Season Singapore

A lot of people ask me what to expect when they watch the Singpaore Grand Prix.  I often say,

F1 Singapore Grand Prix, GPSS

“It’s Louder Than Life”

The people who go here are not necessarily motorsports enthusiasts but they are people who don’t want to miss out on all the fun that the Grand Prix Season Singapore has to offer.

LOUD F1 Singapore Street Race at Night

One, you get to witness a LOUD street race! I brought my boyfriend with me a year ago and he was so “mayabang” He’s like, why did you buy me earmuffs? I was like “Ah ganun, wait till the race starts!”

My boyfriend is not an F1 fan, but after witnessing it, he was such a convert. He got so surprised at the deafening sound of the F1 cars as it passed by Padang area where he was seated. He cried for mercy for the earmuffs I bought him!

The race was also full of LOUD action. Michael Schumacher, Nick Heidfeld and Lewis Hamilton got into an accident in front of me! LUCKY ME!!! (I mean, you get lucky when you witness this in front of you because they get out of their car and walkd).  Also, on that race, Heikki Kovalainen’s car got engulfed in fire! No one was hurt. The FIA (governing body of F1) always makes sure that the drivers, the spectators and everyone else is safe. So even if there are fires and accidents, they only get minor injuries. This was a learning experience from the death of an F1 legend – Ayrton Senna.

Now now, the Singapore F1 race is a night race – adding to the challenge of a street race. Yes, the drivers will be driving around Marina Bay area. Unlike non-street circuits, there is a lesser or no margin for error at all. When a driver gets tired, or the team miscalculates, you could get smashed into the wall. It amazes me how I see cars pass by swiftly over a corner 1-inch from the wall!

Party LOUD and Dance the night away in GPSS

Now, the other reason to get LOUD is the party and the entertainment!

DJ Angie Vu Ha

This is DJ Angie Vu Ha, one of the many DJs that will hit the beat with your favorite hits!

Every party station will be packed! St. James, Chjimes, Amber Lounge, Avalon and many more!

Singapore is a very strict country, but it does know how to party! I guess the strict policies are for the protection of everyone. Like I would walk on the streets at midnight and I would not be afraid. Of course, don’t do this in scary areas because after all, you never know what could happen.

Every year, Grand Prix Season Singapore hosts local and international artists. A lot of them! In my 3 years of covering it, I lack the powers to watch everything so you may choose the one that interests you.

I woud live LOUDER THAN LIFE when I dance to Shakira’s live performance! This is something I don’t want to miss. She is such a unique performer with that signature voice and belly moves! Here’s why I want to watch her (link).

Linkin’ Park is also one of the performers that I am dying to witness! I have been waiting for these two to perform in the Philippines. Come to think of it, the walkabout tickets are very reasonably affordable – thinking you get to see mini concerts of Shakira, Linkin’ Park, Rick Astley, Boy George, Shaggy, LMFAO, Ludacris, Charice and many other performers.

The 3 day walkabout tickets are at around P6,000. This would allow you to watch all of them, enjoy the party everywhere. And of course, witness the most luxurious motorsport in the world – F1 Grand Prix. The cheapest is the Single-Day Friday ticket at P1500.

I would love to go to the Amber Lounge party. This is my only chance to rub elbows with the F1 drivers. But, it costs a bit, so we’ll see abou that :)

LOUD CROWD

Foreigners flock to Singapore every time Grand Prix Season Singapore happens. It’s like a feast and everyone is on vacation mode. Everyone is on a party mood! This is also the perfect time to meet people and befriend others.

You can never go wrong with the crowd! Many of my friends are watching and this will be fun!

SCREAMING Singapore

Singapore itself is LOUDER than life. They have Universal Studios now, Marina Bay Sands, the new attractions at Sentosa. Sentosa now has iFly – a sky diving simulator. You will be literally flying and defying gravity!

ifly singapore

So how am I going to Live Louder than Life in Signapore? Definitely cartwheels everywhere, I’m going to dance the night away, I’m going to take awesome pictures, and I’m going to defy gravity by trying a pole class there.

So everytime I’m in Singapore, it just makes me want to do this:

Experience Grand Prix Season Singapore by planning your luxurious sporting vacation now.  Singapore Airlines offers all-in packages starting at USD 920/person.  This special rate includes roundtrip economy class airfare with airport transfers, 3N/4D hotel acommodations, Philippine travel tax & fuel surchare and a FORMULA ONE race ticket (Zone 4 Walkabout Pass for 3 days).

Merdeka Square and Sultan Abdul Samad Building

Posted by on Sep 5, 2011 in Featured, Malaysia, Travel

Merdeka Square and Sultan Abdul Samad Building

Let’s go back to history a little bit.  I want you guys to learn a lot from my blog especially interesting stuff.  Don’t fall asleep reading this post okay?

Merdeka in Malay means Independence.  Just like the Philippines, Malaysia also struggled colonization from Britain.  Manila was also under the British rule around the 1700s for only 2 years.  Resistance was strong and it prevented the British folks to spread around the archipelago.

But don’t you ever wonder how it would be if they colonized us? Think Harry Potter, Queen Elizabeth, The Spice Girls, David Beckham, Kate Middleton, Prince William, and of course and Mr. Bean😛

Mr Bean Philippines

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Malaysia was colonized by Britain for many many years.  Hence they drive on the left hand side of the road, and they have British sounding towns / places.

Why choose between fashion and comfort when you can have both?

Wearing my Sanuks.  It’s perfect for traveling where there’s a lot of walking!

Merdeka Square, Dataran Merdeka or Independence Square

Sometimes they also call this place as Padang Merdeka.

I never knew that this place is so rich of history.  I was standing at the place where Malaysia waved their first flag of independence.  Across the field is the Royal Selangor Club which is a very exclusive, all men’s club

Therefore, I can’t go in 😛

Sultan Abdul Samad Building

This building is just right across Merdeka Square.  We hanged out inside the bus for a while because this area had free open internet.  Most of the pictures of this building was taken by my Blackberry Playbook.

Too bad we couldn’t go here at night because I heard that this building is also decorated by lights.

I always happen to visit Malaysia during August.  And I usually see their flags displayed everywhere.  This is to celebrate their Independence day.

Notice the buildings with Malaysia’s national flag.

Malaysia has different states and Selangor is one of them.  Kuala Lumpur is a city within Selangor.  Each states have a different flag of their own.  And of course, they have a national flag.

*If you ask me why I know so much about Malaysia, it’s because I have a lot of awesome friends there. (Shout out to all shouters!)

I was supposed to meet AlvinC a.k.a. Chewygummy at Port Klang because he’s the one who lives in Klang.  We planned to go around Klang to find some nic Bah Kut Teh.  They took me here once and he wanted me to try the dry BKT.  We couldn’t find one so we tried the ‘ol traditional soup :)

But we didn’t push through because our tour went to KL instead.  Don’t worry yah, I will be back.

More to come in our Malaysia experience: Menara KL or KL Tower, KLCC and docking at Port Klang and Thean Hou Temple

Me Dancing to Shakira’s Hips Don’t Lie

Me Dancing to Shakira’s Hips Don’t Lie

F1 Singapore Grand Prix, GPSS

It’s finally September! Ghost month is over and the fun starts again!

Up to now, I’m still unsure whether or not I will get to witness yet another live Formula 1 Grand Prix Season Singapore experience.

But if I do, there’s one girl I definitely would love to see perform live!

Shakira, Shakira!

Last year, I had a live blogging coverage about the F1 Singapore Grand Prix.  I got lucky and saw Lewis Hamilton walking down the race track on a Thursday night.  I also saw Jensen Button riding a bike, probably studying the track as well.  I flew via Singapore Airlines on business class on my flight back to Manila and it was a great experience for me!  Although, I flew to singapore on a regular ticket.  Definitely, there are better services and facilities for the business class but the regular ticket was good as well.

I’ve covered the F1 Grand Prix Season Singapore night race for 3 years already and I always love to come back because they do not only give you a louder than life experience of the most luxurious motorsport in the world – F1, but they also give great entertainment that is sure to tire your leg muscles.  But, it’s all worth it  because your F1 ticket gives you access to different kinds of entertainment already.

This year, they have a great roster of artists for entertainment: Linkin Park, Shakira, Boy George, Rick Astley, Shaggy, our very own Charice Pempengco and many more.  Check out full list here.

When they announced last August that Shakira is coming over and will perform in Padang stage – I was sold to watching and covering F1 again!

Why I love Shakira:

Her music makes my body jiggle, swivel, move and groove.

Her song’s are fun and so is she (just like me).

Her songs are influential, bringing Waka Waka to football and uniting the world!

Hips don’t lie baby, and when I hit play to Shakira’s groove… there goes my belleh!

And when I dance to her song, I forget all about my weight, my body, my no-abs belly (not yet), and all the other insecurities a girl has! She’s a drug to my graceful soul.

And here is me – dancing to Hips Don’t Lie by Shakira

disclaimer: I didn’t take any belly dancing lessons so bare with my amateur dancing 😛

That’s what happens when I get bored on a Friday night – but too tired to go clubbing! 😛

What Shakira and Flaircandy has in common:

Pole dancing 😛

She’s amazing and I would love to see her perform live!

And now she’s also going to be in Singapore – LIVE to dance and sing for another sporting event – the Sinigapore Formula 1 Grand Prix. Every time I get to watch F1 performances, I notice that the crowd is very diverse. The crowd comes from all nations – all continents and everyone is game!

The first F1 performance I witnessed was “The Wailers” (Bob Marley’s band) way back in 2008 and it was THE BOMB. The crowd’s energy was high, and it fed my own energy too, making me last till 1am partying non-stop!

If you bought your tickets already, lucky you!  It’s going to be worth it guys, I always had fun covering the F1 in Singapore!
