Boracay Birthday + Halloween

Boracay Birthday + Halloween

Greetings from Boracay!  I’ve been dying to have this vacation – to celebrate my birthday and Halloween :)

We had a difficult trip last night.

Our flight got delayed for 3 hours and we had our flight redirected to Kalibo airport due to sunset limitation.

On our 2 way ride from Kalibo airport to Jetty came a thunderstorm.  It was kinda scary.  We had to stop a few times because we passed by wires torn down in the middle of the street and tree branches falling.  There was a little bit of flood in some areas too.

Luckily, we arrived at Port Jetty safe.  But we got stranded there because the coastguard won’t allow boats to go with the unruly weather.  I just thought, I’d rather get stuck here than by the road @.@

The boats are supposed to travel only until 10pm.  But since there were still a few too many passangers, they allowed us to leave when the rain slowed down and the waves got easy.

Ah… And we arrived at our hotel – Ariel’s or Boracay beach club.  We greeted by a nice ambiance and we had a really nice room and comfy bed – I was happy that I can finally rest, except for my frowling tummy.

We ordered food for our room – their grilled lemon grass chicken was – THE BOMB!!!

After that we partied a little at Ariel’s restaurant.  Status magazine and Fiamma had a little party going there.  We played flip cups :). It was fun!  I’ve eaten at Ariel’s before but I didn’t know they transformed Ariel’s to a restaurant at night.

Despite my alcohol intolerance, I joined in the game coz it was fun.

By the way, the only cure (for now) to alcohol intolerance is to not drink at all.  My enzyme that should convert alcohol into something that the body could use for energy (vinegar) is deactivated and it is impossible for me to break down toxic alcohol to my body… That’s why I get flushed easy and my heart palpitates.

I did a research and scientists found a chemical to activate this enzym but they are still under research.

To lessen the effects of being buzzed, I had to go outside and eat chori burger! Nomnomnom :) and lots of plenty of water of course and Wheatgrass to cleanse my blood of toxins.

And hello good morning!  Breakfast by the beach =)

Brought Berocca with me to get that energy and immune system boost. The last time I was here in Boracay I got super sick. I won’t let it happen this time… I don’t want to ruin my birthday / halloween vacation 😀

Boost Your Day with Berocca

Boost Your Day with Berocca

Every time I get sick, people would suggest for me to take Berocca.  I often ignore it because I usually don’t take vitamines because I’m lazy like that sometimes.

I get sick usually because I overwork myself or my immune system becomes less effective due to – lack of sleep, stress and maybe incomplete diet.

But over time, the name got stuck into my head.  Finally I had to try it since everyone is raving about it! I wasn’t sure if it functioned as a mouthwash medicine or as syrup or a tablet and what it really does so I made a research first.

Berocca is a soluble tablet that you drop in cold water.  You let it dissolve and drink it like juice.  It actually tastes just like a soda juice and it tastes like an energy drink that I used to drink when I was reviewing for the board exams.

The main difference is that Berocca contains no caffein, artificial stimulants, artificial preservatives and sugar but gives more vitamins and minerals that should help me in periods of stress and if I’m in need of a little push to lift up my physical limits.

Pushing myself to the limits with sports and the many activities I do everyday

I used to go out clubbing a lot and I can last ’til 4am just dancing… I feel like lately, I can only stand ’til 12am and I’d be yawning by then.  Sad reality is – I think I’m aging!

I take Berocca in the morning since I start my day early by jogging 2km in the morning and doing some lifts in the playground.  I work early from 7-12 noon.  In the afternoon, I go to meetings and events.  In the evening I have my Pole class.  I usually take mine in the morning, but if I want to keep awake even late till midnight (to go clubbing or traveling) I take Berocca with my lunch.

Sometimes I don’t know how I manage to do everything that I do.  Especially that I need to keep awake when I write.  If before, the only way for me to survive a writing session was to eat junk food to keep me awake, now I’m glad to have Berocca instead.

Berocca is a multivitamin and mineral tablet that contains different vitamines such as Thiamine, Riboflavin, Niacin, Folacin, Biotin, Pantothenic acid, Calcium, Magnesium and Zinc with vitamins B and C in higher dosage.

The two main ingredients that Berocca gives are Vitamin B-Complex and C.  Vitamin C is of course known to boost our immune system and serves as an anti-oxidant so that our cells don’t rust and mutate into cancer cells.  This would be the main ingredient to keep me from having the sniffles and also make me feel energetic! The Vitamin B complex helps our body release energy from food to support vitality and stamina.  Something I could definitely need for my pole dancing and running!  It helps healthy metabolism, and don’t we all want that?

The other vitamins have their own functions.  Calcium for enhanced muscle contraction bones and tendons, Magnesium to help release energy from food and Zinc to keep immune system and skin healthy.

You can read more about the benefits of Berocca on their official website:

Hair Manila: Home Service Hair Extensions in Manila

Have you watched No Other Woman?  If you have, did you notice how stunning Anne Curtis looked with her “goddess hair” – it was super thick with full sexy waves!

I was super inggit and all the time I wanted to buy hair thickening products!

But, I discovered a better alternative to these hair medicines – Hair Extensions!

Although Anne has naturally nice hair already, she had to enhance it further to look like a goddess!!! – perfect for her role in the movie as a seductress! In the movie, she had extensions here and there.  When I discovered that this is the secret to her gorgeous goddess appeal in the movie, I knew I had to try hair extensions too!

Hair Manila

I found Hair Manila and was very happy that they can attach the extensions at the comforts of my home.

For many years, women have sought the perfect hairstyle. That elusive blend of volume, smoothness and style has created frustration in many women who seek to express their seek to express their personality and creativity through their hair.

And now it can be done at home!

Hair Manila - Hair Extensions

This is before I got my hair *did*

Although I love my hair very much, it’s not perfect.  My hair strands are very thin.  Andy my hair is too short for some grand styling.

Hair Manila - Hair Extensions

These are the hair extensions that they were about to attach to my hair!

Hair Manila - Hair Extensions

I had my hair colored light brown!  But I’ve been lazy to re-dye my roots – you can see that it’s black #_#

“What do I do?”

Luckily they are experts and they exactly know what to do with my hair.

They had to mix the color black strands with colored light brown hair strands.

*Try to zoom in the picture above and you will notice the metal and rubber rings that attach the extensions to my real hair.

There are three or more different ways of attaching hair extensions but they said that the metal and rubber rings are the safest method.  And if your hair naturally falls every day, it will just fall on its own, unlike when it is braided – there’s a tendency that fallen  hair will stick out.

It is perfectly safe and will not damage my hair.

The result

Hair Manila - Hair Extensions

Longer hair with highlights!!!

It looks Ombre-ish – that hair color that Hollywood stars love to have these days!  Ombre because it looks beach-washed and it’s perfect for your tan ^_^

And I had to dress up a little bit and pose for the camera ;p

oh, and you might wonder how to take care of hair with extension?

Just treat it as normal hair.  Although they will provide you with a special brush.  You might feel a little bit uneasy on the first two days.  It depends on the individual but as for me, I just had to take Ibuprofen and it was fine after that.  After 3 days, you will get used to having it around and you’d even forget it’s there.

You can wear the extensions for about 2 months, or more – or less.  You just have to inform Hair Manila when you would want it to be detached

How to Sync iCal with Google Calendar

How to Sync iCal with Google Calendar

Every since I bought my MacBook Pro as a gift for myself on Valentines, my life has changed – in better ways and frustrating ways.  Until now I am not that used to using it as compared to Windows platform which I have been using my entire life.  I must say though, it hasn’t failed me in speed especially with photo and video editing which I heavily need – and running multiple applications!

My problem recently is how to sync all of my calendar in different places into one.

That’s what cloud is for right?

I want to be able to use Google Calendar and sync it everywhere – my android phone(s), my macbook, iPad and Blackberry Playbook.  And if ever I am away from all of these, I can still access my calendar as long as I see a PC (mobile or desk) and an internet conenction.

Now, my problem is – how to sync iCal with Google Calendar?

I know I can sync the calendar to my iPad – but not on my mobile phones… and I don’t want to use multiple calendar platforms – I want to use only 1 Google calendar.

And thus the question: How to Sync iCal with Google Calendar?

If there’s a will, there’s a way!  And here is the solution:

How to sync iCal with Google Calendar

Ta-da!!! I love it!

And I am syncing all my calendars because I’ve gone crazy with my schedule.  I use multiple calendars (the physical notebook planner and digital) and it’s a bad habit!  So I put my calendar into one server but at the same time I can access it everywhere!

Also, I am going to have a new job which I am very excited about.  But I know for sure that it will be a stress fest – but it’s one that I need to channel my creativity and extort my workaholic mood.  So this calendar, is a start!!!

A House for your Cameras In Transit: Tenba Shoulder Bag

A House for your Cameras In Transit: Tenba Shoulder Bag

Camera bags may be taken for granted by most photographers – including me.  Sometimes I don’t see a point in investing in one because they’re either too expensive or too bulky for me to carry around.

Sadly, I had to break a DSLR to realize the value of a bag.   I won’t explain further it’s just common sense.  And I didn’t have one before (what was I thinking).  I actually had one but it only fits for one camera.

If you’re like me who is looking to buy another DSLR, or you may already have one and just need the bag then you might want to read further.

I chanced upon a Tenba bag I borrowed for review.

Tenba Camera Bag

It looked really tiny, but it can fit a lot!  This solves my problem of spilling out stuff when I pull out my DSLR from my personal bag (yes, I used to just put it in my jungle bag with all of my other stuff).

The bag is very small.  It’s perfect for me because I don’t like to carry too much.  I have scoliosis and it hurts my back if I cary too much stuff on my shoulders.

 Tenba Camera Bag

The bag is perfect for just one DSLR kit and another lens.  In my case, I use only the kit lens and the 70-300mm zoom for my sports shots.  Sometimes, I also use this lens for portrait or paparazzi shots 😛

 Tenba Camera Bag

The bag is well organized.  I know where to put my stuff – wires, extra batteries, SD cards, filters and others.

 Tenba Camera Bag

I also love that it already includes rain protective gear which you can easily pull out from the back pocket.

 Tenba Camera Bag

Did I mention that I love the color green?  It is my favorite color and I love the kryptonite green that enhances my skin tone :) Vain much? maybe!  But there’s nothing wrong with combining tech and fashion 😉

As for the price, it is reasonably valued at P2,250.  Before I didn’t want to invest in any bags because they are expensive.  But I also looked around other brands and this is a very competitive price for its quality.

Zippers look solid, the fabric they used are sturdy but at the same time provides cushion to the camera inside.

I highly appreciate this movement because I know how one mistake could happen in just a split second.

So there you go, if you want to race and fulfill your need for speed – step into the circuit ^_^

Bacolod Masskara Festival Streetdance Competition Coverage

Bacolod Masskara Festival Streetdance Competition Coverage

They didn’t call Bacolod the “City of Smiles” for nothing!

The Masskara Festival started in the early 80s.  That was a time for crisis in the city with a sunken ship and the sugarcane crisis.  It was bad times for the people of Bacolod.  The artists and the government worked to hold a Festival in that year.  This was intended to turn the gloomy atmosphere of the city and turn it into an activity that would give the people hope.  Indeed it was the city of smiles.  After may years of celebrating this, it is proof that the people of Bacolod can rise up to any challenge and move on to a positive light.

And alas –

I’m back in my hometown!

I have never really experienced being in the streets during Masskara Festival even if I grew up in Bacolod.  I was young then and my parents won’t allow me to go out.

I was happy to fly back home and last Sunday to witness this fun event!

We also wanted to show our support to our friend Eric of Byahilo.com and to his team!  I tell you, Mica and I went with them all the way! From dancing in the streets to wait in the humid crowd, sit on the street, helping the team control the crowd, holding the rope, and up to their final performance in the plaza.  It was a tiring experience but I couldn’t complain.  I wasn’t wearing one of those heavy masks and tight costumes.  I salute the dancers and all the participants for their dedication in the dance.  I am a dancer myself and I know how it is to sacrifice a little but just so that I can perform well.

Bacolod Masskara Festival 2011

Assembly area: Lizares st.

It was 3pm, Sunday, Oct 16 2011 and the dancers wer getting ready!

Note: This is how a jeep looks like in Bacolod.

Bacolod Masskara Festival 2011

Mica and I flew via Airphil Express, who were also there to support Eric‘s team – Barangay 17!

Bacolod Masskara Festival 2011

Bacolod Masskara Festival 2011

By coincidence, Winston and Coy also reprhuzent!  They were also there for work.

Bacolod Masskara Festival 2011

Finally, it was time to head off to Araneta st., one of the major roads in Bacolod that lead’s to the City’s Plaza.

The teams were already dancing in the streets.  None of them wowed me – except for Barangay 17’s street dance!

They won Best in Choreography!  And that is a big thing!

Bacolod Masskara Festival 2011

Their moves were so polished and lines were straight.  It’s hard to pull of a synchronized dance just like that!

Bacolod Masskara Festival 2011

On the leftmost part is Eric :)

Bacolod Masskara Festival 2011

I had to take my photo with him first before he gets drowned by the crowd who wanted to take photos with him!!!

Bacolod Masskara Festival 2011

Mica and I were carrying floating Angry Birds balloons just in case we get lost in the crowd, we just put our balloon up high and we’ll find each other :) pretty smart huh!  I may be short, but I can haz brainz!

and yes, that balloon was tied to our bags 😛

Evening came and most of us, especially the dancers were exhausted.  It was crowded, hot and humid.  The team distributed snacks and water for everyone to nourish the body before the big dance-off!

Bacolod Masskara Festival 2011

This was our main Cathedral in front of our Plaza.  I smiled seeing this.  It has been a while.

And alas! It is time for the main dance at the Plaza!  Since we weren’t able to get a media pass, we had to think of an alternative.  Not being able to go inside, means missing the dance :(

Fortunately, we thought up of something.  We joined the team, assisted the rope guy to control the crowd and we helped carry the props.

Once we were inside, we took our cameras and voiala!!!

Bacolod Masskara Festival 2011

The dancers had 4 costume changes, lots of props all synchronized with their dance!

Bacolod Masskara Festival 2011

The Masskara festival is all about loud and fun colors!

You have to paint the city the color Happy!

PAWS out at Nailaholics with Animal Prints

I love my earth and I love the seas, the forest and of course I love animals.

My heart cries when I hear animals being abused especially cats, dogs and bunnies.  We have animal shelters too but they need help.  I found a way to help these lovely animals and you too can help by being fashionable!

In celebration of World Animal Month this October, Nailaholics Nail Salon & Spa pledged to give 10% of the proceeds of the Anailmalistic promo to the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) to help shelter animals. A little goes a long way for every animal print nail art availed in any of the 28 branches of Nailaholics Nail Salon & Spa nationwide as proceeds will help PAWS perform its mandate of fighting for the welfare and human treatment of animals. The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is a volunteer-based non-government organization whose goal is to prevent animal cruelty through education, animal sheltering and advocacy. The organization runs entirely on donations from generous donors and volunteers.

Pride ruins relationships. I don’t know why people cling to this. Most of the time, when I argue with someone, I am the first one to swallow my pride. I know better now than before and I know that it’s just pointless to keep it there.

I mean pride in a certain amount is ok, sometimes it’s good. But too much of something is just not good at all.

It’s such a heavy feeling and literally, it can put me emotionally and physically down. It’s such a stress.

It’s best to just pause, breathe deeply, clear my thoughts for a while and think slowly… Think on what matters most and what makes sense.

If I bother putting down my pride just to save my relationship with friends, family and loved ones – that means I really care about you guys.

If I don’t bother, that just means you’re not worth my time and ignore you.

So do know that when I say I’m sorry, put down my crown of pride, go up to you and talk it out… That means I care about our relationship.

And some points to ponder on. I know pride lingers in everyone, but think about it :)

“Temper gets you into trouble. Pride keeps you there.”

“A proud man is always looking down on things and people; and, of course, as long as you’re looking down, you can’t see something that’s above you.” – C.S. Lewis

“No one ever choked to death swallowing his pride”

“In general, pride is at the bottom of all great mistakes.”

Coffee lovers will surely love it because of its engaging taste and the health benefits that they can get from every cup they drink.

Unboxing HTC ChaCha

I’ve been loving my HTC ChaCha! I think I was one of the first few people to *own* it because I won it through Smart-HTC launch!

It’s an amazing phone and I thought it is priced really high because of the touch screen and the qwerty physical keyboard!  But, you can get it at P15,500 and you can it for free through a Smart P1000 plan!

Things I do with my HTC Chacha:

– update my social media with that Facebook button that’s very convenient. They didn’t tag this phone as the “Facebook phone” for nothing

– broadcast / lifecast via justin.tv with HTC as my mobile camera.  I live streamed myself while packing before my flight to Singapore and surprisingly I had like 43 views constant.  Recorded live stream link.

– use it as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot.  Using Smart unlimited data plan, I can surf unlimited within the day at p50

– alternate camera when I forget my main camera!

– Chat! IM and everything else! I can do everything as long as I am also subscribed to a data plan.  In my case I use Smart.

– blog through WordPress app for android

– surf the net, use Google maps, check email etc!

– play poker and other games

So far, the only down side is the low internal memory storage at 150mb only.  If you have thousands of contacts synced through Google and Facebook like me, then the 150mb might get full just because of that.

But don’t worry, the memory is still expandable and it already has a 2GB external memory installed when you buy it!

So far, my experience with HTC ChaCha has been a happy one!

It’s fast, convenient and it looks fab!  I love holding it in public… then people would come to me and be like “Is that the HTC ChaCha?”

I guess this phone is a crowd magnet!
