Cirque Mother Africa in Manila Newport Performing Arts Theatre

Here’s one thing you can look forward to this summer!

Be dazzled by Cirque Mother (Circus Mama) Africa when it rolls into town on April 19th – 22nd presented by Establish Events in cooperation with Media Central.

Philippine audiences are familiar with Cirque Du Soleil but this time, they will be challenged and mesmerized by the sights and sounds of Africa. This innovative two hour show, which combines African music, dance and performance, pulsates with the heartbeat of Africa and the combined talents of 40 artists from nine African countries, including Ethiopia, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Ivory Coast, Benin, Zimbabwe, and Guinea.

Preview April

It’s a show that’s unlike any other.  And while some of my friends travel to watch different places worldwide, you don’t have to spend that much to experience this because it’s coming here to Manila!

Check out this video:

Cirque Mother Africa

Although the artists come from all parts of the African continent, on stage, they fuse into a single family whose cheerfulness and passion immediately capture the audience. And they are versatile performers! Each of the outstanding artists is a dancer, singer or musician and quite often a combination of all three. The troupe performed in sold out shows in Germany, Italy, Romania, Russia, Netherlands, Australia, Belgium and Spain.

The circus show, with a cast of 45 performers, started in Tanzania in October 2006. A world premiere in Germany in December 2006 followed and “ Mama Africa – Circus of Joy” was born. T he show toured to sell-out crowds, playing to more than 300,000 people in small cities and towns in Germany. Since then, this circus production has grown and the 2011/12 production is an anniversary programme which will feature some of the best acts from the past four to five years as well as new ones.

Gus* Modern Furniture Made Simple

Gus* Modern Furniture Made Simple

Moving houses? Buying your own place?  Need to shop for furniture?  But how can you do it with flair?

Purchasing furniture is no easy task. One has to consider design, functionality, durability, and price, among others. Will the new sofa fit the allocated space for your 55sqm condominium unit? Does the old- fashioned chair look good against your wall? Does the dining table look too complicated that it veers away from its main purpose?

These are just a few of the questions I have in mind because I’m moving houses.  I’m sure you are asking the same thing.

I recently hosted the launch of a new furniture store here in manila – GUS* and I was well pleased with the modern design of the furnitures and the quality of the details and the main pieces.

Exuberating a timeless classic design that is simple, elegant, and earth friendly, Gus* Modern makes you ask the right questions – “Does the design and function of this furniture complement well with my lifestyle?” and “Is the quality good and will it last?”

I like this specific piece.  It’s the Prairie Table with three pieces, each representing an area in Canada.

Plus, what I love is that they are environment friendly!

Gus* believes that it is the object’s simplicity which lends it the elegance that can mix with the industrial. Inspiration comes from simple forms and honest materials. Combining great design with practical purpose – a true modern furniture, fit for the sensible-living urbanite.

They call this the GT Rocker

This is one of my favorites in the set – the GT Rocker named after the speed race GT.  And you know how much I love racing!

Today, the company’s wide array of sofas, sectionals, chairs and tables, has set high standards of clean lines, quality and modernist feel.

Gus* Modern Releases 2012 Spring Collection

Through the years, Gus* has created furniture that incorporates good design into daily function, each piece crafted with its user in mind.

Introducing the limited edition Cohen Chair, a small-scaled vintage club chair in gorgeous distressed brown leather, featuring top-stitched, full-grain leather upholstery with a unique stainless steel base. This chair is only available at Gus* Studios, like Gus* Philippines, and for a limited time only.

Included in the 2012 Spring Collection is the Carmichael Loft Sofa, part of the Loft Series designed for the condo-dwelling urbanite. The collection also features the Prairie Nest Table and Stump Storage Box.

Gus* In The Philippines

Gus* Philippines opened its doors last December 2010, located at the Ground Floor of the Residences at Greenbelt (TRAG), Makati. It is the first international dealer outside US and Canada.

The Gus* brand is brought to the Philippines by Living Space Home Furnishings, a young and innovative company that aims to bring in high quality modern design furniture, that can be enjoyed by the public.

“We wanted to bring in a brand that has the same youthful energy and awareness on social responsibility as Living Space and that is Gus*. One of the aspects of CSR is its advocacy on eco-friendly living. In our own little way, we create awareness on being environmental friendly through our furniture pieces. Through FSC, we only use woods that are sourced from well-managed forest.” says Anne Young, Living Space.

Following the success of the first branch is Design Pod, situated along Connecticut St. in Greenhills, San Juan. It opened last February 2012 and carries the full Gus* Modern product line with other international brands like Blu Dot and Oliver Hemming time pieces.

LSS: Slide Over by Baby Bash

I haven’t written about songs for a while.  And now I’m having this major LSS over Baby Bash’s song Slide Over.

Baby Bash is cool, I met him twice.  One night in 2007 at Alchemy for Boy’s Night Out event.  And the other time when he went back for Then and Now Concert.  I made sure to get a picture with him this time Smile

Yeah, we’re close like that haha! Holler at yow boi!

Check out the original version on YouTube, but I’m posting a cover by theassociatesmusic.

Sexy song Smile

Fine… here’s Baby Bash’s original version… Whoever the couple is in the video – I JELESSS!

Here’s the lyrics:

Slide Over Lyrics by Baby Bash ft. Miguel

Off the top

Slide over

Mami let me get in your ear

Let me sprinkle you with some of this here

You’s a cutie pie, butterfly

I just wanna see you smile

Slide over (Yeah)

You should resist a bit of your time

Soak it up let it get in your mind

Cause I’m so really feeling you, I’m so really digging you

I’m so just ..

Slide across the leather let me feel your body heat

Let me get you in the mood while you’re turning up the beat

Spea-Speakers bumping loud vibrating down the streetYou ain’t no average girl so you need someone unique

Scrape-Scraping down the block in a cady whipping new shoes

All up in my ear telling me what she gon do

And she all on my cologne like some cat scratch fever

Telling me no Mami’s gonna match that either

Haters might chatter but we really ain’t trippin’ though

Long as me and you baby boo know it’s really though

Haters might chatter but we really ain’t trippin’ though

Long as me and you baby boo know it’s really though

Now you as hot as heat of Summer girl but cold as the snow

That’s right but anything’s possible but nothing’s for sure

Your smile’s worth a million bucks and girl I’m feeling your flow

I can’t lie I’m so addicted to your beautiful glowLet me find out your love going to Vegas

First class flights five star accommodationsAnd we can get our money on and I’ma love you long

Give you the key to mi corazon turn your house into a home

Then hit the galleria, go out for Margaritas

Rock star sweet desire for another

Leave us

Let’s thicken the whole plot the question ain’t why

Baby boo it’s why not
I just want you close to me

Oh’Cause this, this is where you supposed to be ooh

So just
