Music makes the people come together 🙂

Smart Live All Out LABORacay Weekend

Posted by on May 6, 2013 in Celebrities, Entertainment and Lifestyle, Events, Featured, Music

Living in the present moment creates the experience of eternity.
― Deepak Chopra

Age is attitude.  We can live youthful forever!

Cues Ke$ha’s song “Let’s make the most of the night like we’re gonna die young.”  and Taylor Swifts “I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling 22” and all the crazy fun songs that just embodied our Laboracay weekend with Smart Live All Out Party!

I hope you did follow #SmartLiveAllOut hashtag on Twitter and instagram.  We have been posting all our photos of the fun-filled weekend!  I hope there’s a part 2 because I just want more of this!

Here’s a recap of my FUN weekend that was, but will always be in my heart LIVE ALL OUT!!!

I broke my personal record!

Longest stay in Boracay (8 days, 7 nights!) one fully loaded week!

Longest simultaneous partying (7 nights)

achieved 80% alcohol in my blood (I kid you! I have a very nice functional liver and I drink wheatgrass)

Fell in love with a stranger (may ganon? joke lang!) more of like, grabbed a stranger and danced with him (so he can save us from some jeje trying to *BS* me and my friend)

Swam by the beach at night! (shhhhhh!!!)

Ran out of clothes and become creative.

Won a random spinning elephant contest!

Took paraw sailing to a different level, walked by the edge of the boat’s stabilizers and high fived someone from another boat (Lance DeOcampo) while running!

Danced on top of the DJ’s stage!

I definitely lived ALL OUT!

Me and my friends arrived on April 27.  We were warming up for the Labor Day weekend festivities.

as the labor day weekend comes close and closer, more parties, more friends, more fun!

The only thing I love about beach parties: you don’t have to wear heels, you can dance barefoot, you wear comfortable clothing (uh-huh) and you get to swim when it gets too hot and malagkit!

Best part: you don’t have to drive home!  You can just sleep by the sand and no one cares! (I kid :P)

Comes May 2 and my blogger friends arrived from Manila!

I love my roomies! @alyssalapid and @shensaddiction

We stayed at Boracay Garden Hotel

We LOOOOVE our room!  We have pool access by our Balcony, spacious room and not-so-pricey mojitos by the pool bar!

Seriously guys, I brought work with me (because I work from home gala!)

As long as there is internet, I can work from wherever I am, super thanks to SMART LTE prepaid broadband for making this possible!

Here’s how my sched looks like:

6 – 4pm   WORK (excel sheets, html and graphix shizz)

4pm onwards at White House to party

9 pm go home to freshen up

10 pm dinner

11 pm EPIC / Tides

2am go home

Guys, it’s the only thing I know how to do “Work Hard, Play Hard”

With fashion bloggers @verniecenciso @lush_angel and @vernenciso

Partying non-stop at White House Boracay, EPIC and finally Uptown #SmartLiveAllOut Music Fest!

We beat a guy playing this random game called “spinning elephant!”

We did dares LIVE! broadcated on http://smart.com.ph/liveallout

beauty blogger @mikkigalang was also in the area <3

L-R: @verniecenciso @mikkigalang @vernenciso @flaircandy @alyssalapid

Mode of transportation in Boracay: your feet or trike!

Paraw sailing with fashion, beauty and entertainment bloggers and smart team: @lancedeocampo @flowgalindez @mangyanblogger @shensaddiction @tobielstjohn @irislaotan

This relaxing paraw sailing totally gave me a zen moment.  From hyper parties to relaxation mode!

You can never go wrong catching a Boracay sunset.  It will always take your breath away. #nofilter

Dinner with the bloggers and smart team before partying!

at Sun down, the party people of boracay were treated to an All Out Music Festival with performances from some of the country’s finest artists to celebrate youthful victories. Bands and DJs that rocked the event are The Oktaves, Yolanda Moon, Brigada, Funk Avy, Callum David, Scratchmark, Thea, and David Ardiente.

We had to say goodbye to Boracay on Saturday, but our journey didn’t end there!

To embody our theme for this week to “LIVE ALL OUT,”  we flew to Cebu just to eat Zubuchon!!!

kami na talaga! Us already!

When I arrived at Manila airport… I zoomed as fast as I can to my photoshoot…

I love this life I live!  It’s so full of action and energy

And so Living All Out continues.  Please free your June 1 7pm to watch our Stellar Broadway Pole summer show at SM North Sky Dome.  See you!!!

Braven BRV-1 Water Resistant and Weather Proof Speakers

Posted by on Apr 15, 2013 in Entertainment and Lifestyle, Featured, Music, Tech Chic

Hello beach bums!  What is summer and the beach without an awesome soundtrack to your tropical vacation?  It’s the season to bask under the sun, enjoy parties by the beach – and you need a great speaker to seal the deal.

When I first heard about the features of this speaker, I asked “Water WHAT speakers?”

Let me just clarify, this is not water proof – you cannot submerge it underwater!!! Why would you want underwater speakers anyway?  It’s useless!  What it is is a water resistant, splash proof and weather proof.  This is the Braven BRV-1!

So, this is a video record of the braven playing music… it isn’t on full blast yet but the music is clear, and quality is good for my standards. In playing this video, you have to factor in of course that this is also recorded using my Nikon D3100.

Braven BRV-1 Product Packaging

Braven BRV-1 Features

Rugged and water resistant.  Built for the great outdoors.  The BRV-1 will keep up with you in even the most extreme environment

IXP5 Water Resistant

The BRV-1 is protected from rainfall, water jets, and water splashing.  It is not intended to be submersed completely in water.  (Besides, why would you? You won’t be able to hear clear music underwater anyway, would you?)

6W Speaker Output

Enjoy 3 Watts of audio output per channel.  Now this sounds technical – this just means better sound quality!

It has a built-in noise-cancelling mic to make and take calls wirelessly on your own or in a group.

What it can do:

– Endure

– Rock

– Talk

– Charge

– Control

In a different angle

Unboxing the Braven BRV-1 Wireless HD Speaker

Remember, it’s water resistant, not water proof – read instructions carefully!

What’s cool about this is you can charge your phone with it as well!!! Crazy convenient!

Testing the speakers by playing my iPhone (using the 3.5mm jack)

Sound quality didn’t disappoint.  And since this is an outdoor speaker, it needs to be quite louder than the average.

One weekend while surfing

Took the Braven BRV-1 Speakers to the beach!  It totally complete’s my surfing experience!

Tuned in to this baby while I rest.

You’ll never be afraid of getting this baby splashed by some little water.

It’s a gadget you can use everywhere.  It’s my favorite piece of my daily life.  I work with music, shower with music and pretty much do anything with music around me!   It just spices up my day and this durable thing can keep up with my daily activities!  Yes to this awesome baby!

Falling in Love with the Phantom of the Opera

Posted by on Sep 3, 2012 in Celebrities, Entertainment and Lifestyle, Events, Music

This was the night I surrendered to the music of the night Smile

I’m not a big theatre fan, but ever since I’ve seen good productions when I moved here in Manila, I started to be amazed with this industry!  Like “Where have you been all my life!?”  When I heard Phantom of the Opera is going to show in the Philippines I was ecstatic!

The Venue

Can I just say, I’ve fallen for the characters.  And when you’re watching it, it just affects you in every way possible.  It’s all about passion and unrequited love which I’m sure a lot of people can relate to.

"You alone can make my song take flight, It’s over now the music of the night"

I haven’t seen any plays or movies of the Phantom of the Opera yet so I had the advantage of discovering the story on a very nice setting at the comforts of my city – in CCP.

@startel @lush_angel @flaircandy

The Actors

Yes, I’m a theatre noob and hearing about it, hearing about the songs and watching in live with the great actors was really something!

That last line was hard for me not to be emotionally involved.  The build-up of the characters were timely as expected but in general, you’d find yourself transported into their world.  At least that was how it felt for me.

Stranger than you dreamt it, can you even bear to look, or dare to think of me?

Jonathan Roxmouth as the Phantom of the Opera

L-R: Guy Simpson – Musical Supervisor, Dondi Ong as “Piangi,” Claire Lyon as “Christine,” Anthony Downing as “Raoul,” and Jonathan Roxmouth as “The Phantom of the Opera”

The Orchestra and the Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber

I was also able to go to the Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber.  It was great, and a good snap of the Phantom of the Opera through the songs, but seeing it in the actual set was amazing, with my favorite lines…

Close your eyes for your eyes will only tell the truth
And the truth isn’t what you want to see
In the dark it is easy to pretend
That the truth is what it ought to be

I’m here, nothing can harm you
My words will warm and calm you

Costumes, Set and Transition

Great costumes, great set.  No fancy LCD screens shimmering to different backdrops.  It was old school push and pull sets.  I was impressed at the seemingly floating alley / bridge.

Romantic Scenes

Complete with the Gondola scene, the music, and the acting – it was perfect.  Romantic!  I thought it would be overly corny, I was very fond of the Chemistry between the actors.  Even if we weren’t seated right at front you could feel it.

And when they did the scene with them 3, and with this song:

Say you’ll share with me one love, one lifetime. Lead me, save me from my solitude. Say you’ll want me with you here beside you. Anywhere you go, lt me go too. Christine, that’s all I ask of…

Sigh… it was very hard for me to write this post without being emotionally involved all over again! I suggest you watch it yourself.  It’s been selling quite good that they decided to extend it twice now until October 14 2012!  I heard tickets are selling fast!

Nelly Furtado Gangnam Style Manila [Video]

Posted by on Aug 17, 2012 in Celebrities, Entertainment and Lifestyle, Events, Music

Nelly Furtado surprised the crowd by singing and dancing to popular Korean song "Gungnam Style".  With Nelly Furtado during her concert in Manila is the band Gym Class Heroes.

I’m so sorry for the shakey video!

I got so carried away when I saw Nelly Furtado singing and dancing the goofy dance steps of Gungnam Style!

I started dancing while taking the video… forgetting that I am holding the camera.  Silly me!

Thank you to @dayly_ent and @geekynights! Follow them on twitter, they’re awesome!

Spice Girls Reunite at the London Olympics 2012 Closing Ceremony

Posted by on Aug 13, 2012 in Entertainment and Lifestyle, Music, Sports

They’re the first girl band I went crazy with and until now, I still am!  I think, without them, I wouldn’t be this “FLAIR” candy you know now. Seriously!  They inspired me that whole “Girl Power” thing and went well for me all the way!

The London Olympics featured almost all modes of transportation in their closing  ceremony.  One Direction used a huge truck.

Spice Girls used TAXI cabs! Glittered taxi cabs!

and they were WOW!  I got the Goosebumps all over watching them again, reunited!  I really wish to watch their concert, it has been my dream.  And they were so close to performing in Hong Kong which I would have flown for just to see them.

Anyway check out the video and the photos of the Spice Girls at the London Olympics 2012 Closing Ceremony! Hope you enjoy as much as I do!

My Flair Life in Color, Rise When We Fall

Posted by on Aug 13, 2012 in Advocacy, Contests, Featured, Music, Promos

I spent 2 days in different airports.  Went from one country to another, and I found out that the Philippines was crying because of the habagat.  It was a bit hard for me have fun in my trip when some of my friends were waist-deep in the flood.

I went home via Clark airport and I was so worried that Clark airport might be flooded as well, and my car would be flooded too.  Luckily it didn’t flood in Clark Airport and it is one safe place for my car, rather than I would have left it in my condo in Manila, my car would have been gone.

I got stranded in Clark area because NLEX was flooded and the rest of the roads I needed to cross to go home.

With nothing to do, I was companied by music and color.  I brought my Urbanears with me.  I waited long hours in the airport, and more hours being stuck in Clark.

After the rains and the onslaught of the habagat, we rise again.  As always.

Lyrics Crickets by The Freshmen ft. Allan I Lyrics

Posted by on Aug 13, 2012 in Music

I’ve been searching for lyrics for this song everywhere. I couldn’t find it anywhere… So, I just transcribed this myself. Correct me if I’m wrong in the comments below.

the freshmen

Crickets Lyrics

The Freshman ft. Allan Lyrics

So I told her like ooh darling,

I feel like I am falling

I think it be whatever it is they’re callin’

I’m talkin’ bout love (love, love)

My friends say ____

but I don’t really give a f*ck (oh, oh)

Pardon my French girl

I just wanna know what’s up

I told her we should kick it, but all I heard was crickets

Yeah, I’m like, girl whatcha doin’ for today

I’m thinking maybe me and you should go and run away

And that I don’t believe in love at first sight

But after seeing you baby maybe I might

‘Coz when you walked by

I knew you were my type

The apple of my eye

You’re fly-er than a kite

Okay, alright, I know that was kinda corny

But, I’m just warmin’ up

Look at you, look at you all ___ up

Look at me, look at me getting’ __ up

Going down, going down  ______

But hopefully you got the number I can call up

And if you go girl that would be super,

These chicks have but you so much cooler

And I was hoping she would give me a chance

She walked by and didn’t give me a glance, damn

I told her like ooh, baby

I’m so amazed by everything that you do

So I told her like ooh darling,

I feel like I am falling

I think it be whatever it is they’re callin’

I’m talkin’ bout love (love, love)

My friends say ____

but I don’t really give a f*ck (oh, oh)

Pardon my French girl

I just wanna know what’s up

I told her we should kick it, but all I heard was crickets

Yeah, yeah

I said girl, what you doin’ on the weekend

And she said I don’t even know, depends

You the one that I’ve been seeing in my dreams in

Maybe we can get together in the evenin’

I know we just met but fate I believe in

I know the spot where the stars just peek in

If love is deep, I’ll put both feet in

Show me where the sea is, I’ll be in the deep end

Your beauty got me sinkin’

Got me sayin’ all the sh*t without thinkin’

I’ll pro’lly sound like a “spent the night drinkin’”

Are these the lines that I’m always repeatin’

But, it’s the heart on my sleeve

that wanna know if yours might have a spare key

But if you’re a heartbreaker then please spare me

Damn, she was apparently

I told her like ooh, baby

I’m so amazed by everything that you do

So I told her like ooh darling,

I feel like I am falling

I think it be whatever it is they’re callin’

I’m talkin’ bout love (love, love)

My friends say ____

but I don’t really give a f*ck (oh, oh)

Pardon my French girl

I just wanna know what’s up

I told her we should kick it, but all I heard was crickets

In this light, you lookin’ like you’re in-flight

Pretty boys, put a ribbon in your wind pipe

(Hey what’s up?)

silly girl, you’ve been playin’ with me all night

But we could work it out,

I’d be on my ____

Yeah, I heart you have a boyfriend and stuff

I was just callin’ to tell you that it’s cool coz

My other girlfriend got one too… (haha)

So I told her like…

ooh, baby

I’m so amazed by everything that you do

So I told her like ooh darling,

I feel like I am falling

I think it be whatever it is they’re callin’

I’m talkin’ bout love (love, love)

My friends say ____

but I don’t really give a f*ck (oh, oh)

Pardon my French girl

I just wanna know what’s up

I told her we should kick it, but all I heard was crickets

Drum Tao Review – Wowed my Entire Soul

Posted by on Jul 15, 2012 in Events, Featured, Music

I am a fan of drums and I’m a frustrated drummer!  Back in high school, I wanted to both dance for the cheerleading squad and beat the drums for us.  But I can’t half myself into two can I?

When I heared that Drum Tao is performing in Manila, I was excited!  I’ve heard so many good things about them! World-renowned Japan martial arts and drum-playing extraordinaires, Drum Tao, is only here in Manila to perform 10 shows only from July 12-22.

I watched Drum Tao at the Newport Theater, Resorts World last Friday.  Traffic was crazy! It was payday Friday!  Watching Drum Tao was exhilarating though.

My friend Beth and I managed to take photos with the Drum Tao cast as they were passing the restaurant we were at.

Graceful Lady Drum Beaters

I’m very happy there were women beating not only the small drums but the really BIG ONES!  These girls were very graceful, despite the power they were evoking while they beat every bit of these big drums!

Hair Flipping

Don’t get me started with some of the guys, one of the specialty moves of one of the guy drummers was – HAIR FLIPPING!  He just knows the heart of hair flipping with all his sould that he inserts every appropriate hair flipping on his drum choreography!  I envy him because I fail at hair flipping coordination when I pole 😛

Both the guys and women got great physique.  I imagine them practicing everyday.  The ladies would perform showing parts of their back, and you could see their powerful muscles and their cuts while they beat!

As for the men, they perform with so much passion!  They perform with traditional costumes or sometimes, topless!  And you can see those muscles get angry in front of you!  I’m not kidding!

Synchronization and Harmony

I am just at awe at how these guys would start from a teasing beat… to later, a very climactic and upbeat tempo and then all of a sudden, all of them beat that one last drum beat — BHAAAM!

I am not sure if they count every beat, but they do know when to stop the beat at one big WHAAAM! Just like that!  If I were one of the performers, I bet I’d screw up and not know when that happens.

Skill and Power

No doubt about this.  They were beating slow, fast… plus, they have choreography.  It was like their brain-muscle coordination are far supperior than us ordinary humans.

They weren’t only using drums.  They had other strings and pipe instruments.  Plus, they can do martial arts and well – acting.

It’s one show you  must watch 🙂

Check out details about Drum Tao tickets and schedule here.

where are we?
what the hell is going on?
the dust has only just begun to form
crop circles in the carpet
sinking feeling
spin me round again
and rub my eyes,
this can’t be happening
when busy streets a mess with people
would stop to hold their heads heavy
hide and seek
trains and sewing machines
all those years
they were here first
oily marks appear on walls
where pleasure moments hung before the takeover,
the sweeping insensitivity of this still life
hide and seek
trains and sewing machines (oh, you won’t catch me around here)
blood and tears (hearts)
they were here first
Mmmm whatcha say,
Mmm that you only meant well?
well of course you did
Mmmm whatcha say,
Mmmm that it’s all for the best?
of course it is
Mmmm whatcha say?
Mmmm that it’s just what we need
you decided this
oooh whatcha say?
Mmmm what did’cha say?
ransom notes keep falling out your mouth
mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut outs (paper word cut outs)
speak no feeling no I don’t believe you (I don’t believe you)
you don’t care a bit,
you don’t care a bit
(hide and seek)
ransom notes keep falling out your mouth
mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut outs
(hide and seek)
speak no feeling no i don’t believe you
you don’t care a bit,
you don’t care a (you don’t care a) bit
(hide and seek)
oh no, you don’t care a bit
oh no, you don’t care a bit
(hide and seek)
oh no, you don’t care a bit
you don’t care a bit
you don’t care a bit

The House of Marley Audio Products, Good Vibrations

Posted by on Jun 5, 2012 in Featured, Music, Tech Chic

This is the closest I will ever get to meeting Marley himself, the new House of Marley personal audio products!

The House of Marley recently launched in the Philippines at Prive, bringing positive vibrations with its latest collection of headphones, portable sound systems and lifestyle gear.  House of Marley is a collection of premium, earth-friendly personal audio products created by Marley’s family.

With Elijah Murray and Tracy Abad

JR Isaac, Tracy Abad, me, JC Ansis

The House of Marley was founded by Rohan Marley, the sixth eldest of Bob’s 11 children, with the purpose of embodying the spirit of his late father in each and every product. “When you wear [MARLEY] headphones it tells people what you stand for,” says Rohan, who goes on to explain, “my father spread messages of love, hope, unity, and peace through his music and it is our family’s responsibility and mission to bring his vision to a new generation.”

Earth-friendly, all The House of Marley audio products are created with a focus on using sustainable products in addition to providing exceptional sound that the Marley family is proud to call its own.

The epicenter of a global movement, 1Love.org, sparked by the Marley family, is dedicated to spreading Bob Marley’s message of unity and peace by lifting up a new generation of "young gongs" to strike the hammer for charities, causes, and ideas that can change the world with a focus on youth, planet, and peace. In line with his father’s mission, The House of Marley organization donates five percent of its annual profits to the 1Love.org and is constantly looking for additional ways to give back to the community.

The House of Marley products come with the Marley “Signature” Sound, incorporating more than 30 years of audio expertise into the design of the acoustics of their audio products.

It is the goal of The House of Marley to produce audio products with smooth, powerful bass, mids with stunning presence, and an energized high-end that brings songs to life. Each product undergoes custom tuning for its particular size, shape and material. Only FSC certified wood (Forestry Stewardship Council) is used on MARLEY products, which assures that the wood they use come from a forest that is replenished making the material truly renewable and sustainable.

The House of Marley, besides expanding its MARLEY audio line, will stay true to its lifestyle roots by introducing watches, bags and other accessories this year in the worldwide market.

In the Philippines, the first trial shipment of the audio line early this year was sold out in S&R Membership Shopping, Ansons Appliances, Reuse, Powerbooks, Selected National Bookstores and Puregold Duty Free. In addition to the mentioned stores, the new collection will be sold in electronics and audio stores, surf shops, APR’s lifestyle stores, department stores and specialty retailers nationwide.
