I am not a sneaker fan nor do I care much about brands. What I care about is something that’s simple, functional and would look good on me. I saw a friend who posted a photo of the Adidas Stella McCartney Pure Boost X and it was love at first sight.

Luckily, we found a pair that’s my size, right here in the Philippines! I think 3 branches in Manila sell these Stella McCartney Pure Boost X adidas shoes – Powerplant, Greenbelt 3 and UP Town Center. I got mine with the right size at UP Town Center! LUCKY!!!
The marshmallow bottom soles are composed of thousands of BOOST beads that respond instantly to give you energy.
FLOATING ARCH There are lots of boost models now but what I like about this specific style is its floating arch. It fits and hugs your feed and supports your every step. No matter what form, shape or size your feet are.
The outsole flexes and adapts to every stride you make. It’s really designed for running and I am quite particular about running shoes because I get injured when I wear the wrong ones. So far, so good with this pair!
It is rated 4.7 stars out of 5 in the official adidas website and 92% of users recommend it. I highly recommend this as well! There are other color variants but the nude style is the one I fancy. Nude shoes make me look taller. It always looks like my legs are extended to the ground and not broken by any line. When you are not gifted in height, trust me it helps!
These Pure Boost X adidas by Stella McCartney gives me a great fit and reviews have been saying it fits all foot types! I bought 1 size larger though because I always use socks and 1 size larger feels more comfortable for me. I also love the free-floating arch support under the midfoot that gives my feet support and a smooth feel.
The primeknit material also designed to naturally expand with your foot while you run. It hugs well but is also comfortable and light.
I’m not sure if we even need the strap… It looks cooler with the strap though. I also like the unique strap lacing system, synthetic sidewall panels for stability, sock construction and reflective heel cap! I didn’t notice the reflective heel cap until I was actually wearing them. It also has welded overlays for support and adaptive dynamic fit for optimal flexibility. I love how lightweight the shoes are, contributed to the STRETCHWEB rubber outsole that is light and elastic. This easily adapts to the ground for stability and works well with the unique properties of boost from touchdown to push-off.

Most people think that I am always healthy and my body is strong. This is my goal, and while I’d like that to be always true, there are still a few things I would like to improve on my body. Despite the fact that I always work out and eat healthy, doesn’t mean that I can just ignore some signs that my body is telling me.
Sometimes, I am not sure if I am over-training and making my muscles suffer too much fatigue. Or I don’t know if it’s just my posture. But one of the main problems I face is my upper back. It always feels uncomfortable. It does not hurt. But sometimes, I just feel like I need a massage every day! That does not sound good.
Lucky for me, I heard about Polarity Physiotherapy. When I heard that this place exists, I went immediately to have my upper back checked. Enough of the questions, it’s time I have an expert in myofascia take a look at my chronic pain.

If you have been having chronic pain that won’t just go away, I highly recommend this place. After my first Myofascial release with one of the therapists, I felt my spine and posture improve, the pain gone for about a month and relief from feeling uncomfortable with my upper back all the time.
Even if their location is far from where I live, I would make time to go back here again.

I could relate quite well to Emmanuelle’s firm belief as stated above. Lately, I have been on a mission to become the best version of me. With the help of friends, fitness mentors, nutrition coach, doctors and the support of loved ones, I slowly am headed to becoming my best self in all aspects of my humanity. By slowly changing and transforming myself, I realized that my students, friends, readers and followers slowly notice the positive changes in me, and then I began to realize, I could in fact inspire change or make an impact in other people’s lives. I respond slowly to fitness questions via email, skin and beauty tips via social media and facebook messages and even as as far as giving advice to people who are emotionally distraught. I think one thing my readers know about me is that I am transparent in my struggles and they see the real deal. I blog about these things, but more importantly, I never fail to share that I am always trying to stand right back on my feet, dust off some negative juices and try again.
Blogging could surely take up a lot of my time. Traveling from one event to another, writing and documenting travels, hours of research and content writing too, and so on and so forth. I am not even blogging for the money, nor is this my main source of income. I blog continously so that I could send a message to everyone that they can achieve anything they want to as long as they put their heart to it.

A girl in her teenage years would usually grow up confused with her body transformation. That was me. I went into puberty earlier than my classmates and I thought it was a horrible thing to have my chest growing. My classmates teased me and I slouched all the time, uncofortable of this change.
I was a dancer too and it involved a lot of jumping and moving around. I was embarrassed to ask my mom for undergarment, but I had to. We went to the mall and my first bra is actually Triumph.

This week has been a great expression of pole in my life.
Big Shift VIE & VAULT Amateur Night 2012
I haven’t been attending proper classes at the Polecats studio since I have been busy with work and travel. I pole at home from time to time, when I can.
I had a crazy decision to join an amateur pole competition 3 days before the final deadline. I AM CRAZY! People have been telling me I’m crazy for my decisions, but they were all decisions that came from my heart (yes also with a lot of logic and thinking but my heart always wins).
Creating a choreo for pole from scratch was a very tasking job! For the song choice, I just decided to use “Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys the first time I heard it on the radio. It’s a powerful song and I’d enjoy dancing to it. After hearing the song over and over again to choreo for it, I GOT SICK of it! >.< But, I finished the song (well, from 4 mins down to 3 because I got so dead tired). So here goes…

Xpert Pole Fitness Teacher Training with Marlo Fisken

Yeah… another last-minute decision I made was to take a Pole Teacher training program.
Teaching pole has been something that’s been lingering on my mind, especially when friends here and in Bacolod have been asking me to teach them. They want to be my “first students.” I will always just say “I’ll try.”
One, I can’t teach just like that. I want to be a responsible teacher, one that knows how to manage a studio, legal requirements, first-aid knowledge, handling a class etc.
Again, thanks to friends who pushed and encouraged me to take this class. I think it’s an investment worth spending for. I just resigned from my recent job and I’ll be helping my family with our fam business. My friend said, “What are you gonna do with pole?” I guess I’m taking it to the next level.
I can never let go of dancing. From performing at almost every functions in my elementary years, to joining folk dance competitions in high school and cheerleading in college – dancing, will never leave me. And here I am. A pole dancer. And now, I am confident that I can teach pole. I just need experience and well… capital to take pole to my hometown. I need business partners baby! C’mon, email me if you believe in art, fitness and creativity. Pole is the next big thing!

I’m panicking! I need a song, a theme/concept, a choreo, a list of tricks and spins and A COSTUME!
and I need some energy booster thingamajigs. WHEATGRASS and Berocca TIME!
Sometimes, you just need to go beyond the weighing scale to feel the difference!
When I was almost done with my NESTLÉ FITNESSE 14-Day Program, I felt the change even without checking with the scale yet. My clothes were fitting me okay, my jeans are easier to wear with and everything just felt more comfortable!
I guess that’s the real essence of losing weight. It makes you feel more comfortable, then it has a domino effect on your whole well-being: you feel good, you exude confidence and in turn, you do better at work or in school, your social life booms and everyone would say "blooming ka ah!" That indeed was what happened to me. People keep noticing my change in weight that even my pole instructors were amazed at the "healthy" weight I now have.

So yes, exercise is good with my new healthy lifestyle kicked off by my 14-Day Nestle Fitnesse diet! Find your exercise! Find the exercise that fits your schedule and your goal. As for me, I’ve been busy lately but there’s no excuse to exercise – I exercise at home.
The often most neglected part of any exercise is warm-up, stretching and conditioning.
And since I burned some good calories after a good exercise at home, I have to put bananas in my NESTLÉ FITNESSE cereal for dinner and maybe add 1 hard-boiled egg for protein (for muscle repair). My goal is to lose the fat and gain healthy muscle!

It trains my body to eat more nutritious food that complements my exercise, making it more effective in losing weight!

Since I’ll be doing the NESTLÉ FITNESSE 14-Day Program, I must think of a way to add variety to my cereal which I will take twice a day for the rest of the 14 days.
First of all, the NESTLÉ FITNESSE cereals come with different flavors. So, I can work on alternating flavors for one.
Second, I can incorporate more flavor to my cereal by adding fruits, using soy milk and dark chocolate bits, the list is endless! My favorite has always been the original NESTLÉ FITNESSE flakes, milk, good bananas and mango 🙂
Healthy ways to make your NESTLÉ FITNESSE 14-Day Program more interesting:
Add fruits to your cereal. Like I said, banana and mango are my favorite fruits to add to my cereal.
Add nuts to your cereal. Try almonds, pistachios and nuts that are unsalted. NESTLÉ FITNESSE has Honey & Almonds flavor so you can try this too
Try different flavors of NESTLÉ FITNESSE cereal
Try alternating milk with soy or flavored milk to make the flavor interesting! You can try milk in strawberry, melon or chocolate flavor!

It may not be easy to travel on a diet but if you’re dedicated, it is possible. One of my rules when I’m traveling is "no diet" whatsoever. Period. But I had to change that since I was so committed to seeing the results of my current 14-Day diet.
I was on my NESTLÉ FITNESSE14-Day Program. The good thing is, the cereals are easy to bring along with. For the 14-Day duration I had 2 travel destinations – one locally in Subic and the other one that was quite challenging was my trip to Jakarta.
For Subic, it was easy for me because I was with my officemates for our teambuilding. Initially, they all teased me that they’d all be eating buffet for breakfast, dinner and lunch and I’d look SAD not being able to eat 2 meals. Meh… like I said, it’s all about dedication and your commitment to see the results!
I wrote this down in my last blog post and I’ll write it again, my officemates LOVE NESTLÉ FITNESSE! It’s a good thing that they do because they totally supported me on my diet. They would say "Hey diba bawal ka niyan?" when they see me sneaking into the buffet table, or "Kain ka na muna kahit konti." So I did that.

It was hard to be so strict on this diet that I had to adjust a little for the occasion. During dinner I had approximately 3 spoonful of the food from the buffet table, just not to deprive myself. Those served as "snacks" for me.
As for my travel to Jakarta, it was harder! We stayed at Century Park Hotel in Jakarta and their breakfast also serves buffet!
I didn’t eat the pancakes and waffles but I tried a bit of beef bacon and their local "fried noodles." Good thing it wasn’t so appetizing, flavor wise, so I celebrated with the fruit and salad section!
Of course, they also had a cereal bar!
I sneaked in my own NESTLÉ FITNESSE cereal because it is richer, more nutritious and tastes better than their cereal selection.
They should include the NESTLE FITNESSE in their cereal table!

The weird thing is, slowly during the diet, I didn’t crave for anything "oily" and "sinful" which is amazing! Everytime I search for my meals for lunch, I’d make sure they are balanced, not so greasy and healthy. And for snacks, I look for fruits instead. It makes me feel fresh, clean and maybe my body doesn’t lie. Someway, somehow, my body is telling the "decision-making" part of my brain to choose healthy food because it is good for me.
Airports are filled with fast-food restaurants and I am so happy I didn’t crave for any of them. And I’m glad that part of the diet is to eat one good balanced meal per day – this didn’t deprive me of tasting the local food of Indonesia and Malaysia.
In conclusion, it might be difficult to go on a diet while traveling but if you are committed to it, nothing will stop you. Plus, your body and brain help you in a way. When you start the healthy diet, they would help you crave less and decide better on which food to pick. At the end of the day, it’s all about the choices we make, and every time – we do have a choice. Let’s pick the right one, the choice that’s good for us 🙂

I am so fond of watching acrobats and the circus, minus the clown because I don’t like clowns. But, in all fairness their clowns were too funny for me to get awkward in my seat!
DID I JUST SAY FUNNY? funny, entertaining and inspiring (for me) as a pole athlete and fitness enthusiast. The artists are awesome and I like dreaming big. For my fitness goal, my dream is to join the Olympics (when they include Pole in the future) or join an elite Circus like Cirque du Soleil. I’m one ambitious girl but I’ve got nothing to lose if I dream big, don’t I?

Urban Ashram Manila celebrates their newest location at the Bonifacio High Street. It is very accessible to where I work so it’s perfect! With their soft opening, they also invite and encourage yoga enthusiasts and those who want to try it by joining their Open House from July 14 – 24, 2012.

You can sign-up for to a maximum of five (5) classes during the Open House period. Regular class schedules will follow starting July 25 and you can check out the class schedules for the rest of July and August by clicking here.
I took the 6:30am class yesterday and the class said “FNR” or Flexibility Not Required. But we worked most of our core out and right now, my abdomen is in blissful pain. The pain you should be proud of because you know your yoga session worked well to tone your body.
*Come at least 20 minutes before class time and bring a valid photo ID along with towel and water bottle for the class. No cellphones, bags or personal belongings will be allowed inside the studios. Lockers will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Shower facilities MAY NOT be available during the Open House period (because they are still fixing some facilities).
I give much importance to doing my workouts the right way. I appreciate my pole teachers, Polecats Manila, on how they value proper form and body alignment. Doing things the right way not only avoids causing injuries to your joints and muscles, but most importantly, your work-out would be more efficient and effective.
Urban Ashram as the same value. Although I think the class I took was for beginners, I felt my core like no other!
Their technique is not to get overwhelmed with poses but to make sure your body is aligned the right way when you are doing poses.
It was a great challenge for me, but I think it would help me much with my pole dancing.

It’s a place close to my heart. For one, I work around the area since the time they were developing it. There were only quite a few buildings at that time and a limited number of restaurants we can dine for lunch. Now, it is a throbbing city full of life with busy workpeople during the day and party-goers, skateboarders, dog walkers and runners at night.
I used to run here every night when I wasn’t busy yet. It’s a perfect place to get inspired to get fit!
You know who my inspiration is when it comes to running? Oh, he’s very popular… You know him as COACH RIO…

And so I was walking along BGC one night because I was headed to the parking lot. I noticed this sign.

But oh well, there’s no harm in trying right?
This event was presented by Safeguard promoting good hygiene in Sports!
for a 20 meter sprint, coach Rio’s record was 2.3 seconds!
Can you beat that?
I walked around and saw people warming up and stretching!
I was like “I didn’t get the memo! I was wearing my wedge sandals – eek!”
So I headed to the registration area. I wanted to register and try to beat coach Rio’s time (like I could) but I wasn’t dressed for it, wasn’t wearing shoes the very least
I think these guys came in a group. Obviously, they are wearing uniform shirt.
The runners would run alongside this long LCD screen where a running virtual “coach Rio” can be seen.
This picture is a blurry one! That’s just how fast these people go.
On the average, the time the runners had were 2.8 – 5 seconds.
As compared to coach Rio’s time of 2.3 seconds! That guy’s insane!
And contestant #29 is special because he’s like coach Rio’s doppelganger.
The host momentarily mistook him as coach Rio!
Did he beat coach Rio’s time?
Unfortunately not, but I remember he had a good record at 2.8 seconds!

My Running Hygiene
I am personally very particular in maintain good personal hygiene in sports especially even after running. Even on a normal day where we bask on tropical weather and we expose ourselves to polluted air as we commute around the Metro is one big reason enough to pay attention to our own hygiene.
I believe that personal hygiene is the first step to good health.
Although our skin is the first layer of combat against pollutants, toxins and bacteria – we cannot abuse it that much!
It’s a habit of mine do rinse or shower before doing any form of exercise (running, pole dancing, yoga, gym). I don’t know, it’s just a bit weird for some but I personally want to be clean before invoking sweat on my body because I feel like it will breed bacteria more when I sweat. So I want to rinse off any existing unwanted microorganisms in my body before sweating! YIKES!
Plus, ODOR is caused by very naughty bacteria! They are the main culprit to that pungent smell and it is such a total turn off when I run around and I bump into my crush and they smell funky. I don’t want to smell funky either!
Because of the humid weather, I take a bath every day. Then I take a bath after I work out.
UNLESS I want to repel people…
