Bonifacio Global City
It’s a place close to my heart. For one, I work around the area since the time they were developing it. There were only quite a few buildings at that time and a limited number of restaurants we can dine for lunch. Now, it is a throbbing city full of life with busy workpeople during the day and party-goers, skateboarders, dog walkers and runners at night.
I used to run here every night when I wasn’t busy yet. It’s a perfect place to get inspired to get fit!
You know who my inspiration is when it comes to running? Oh, he’s very popular… You know him as COACH RIO…
I know him as “THE MAN FASTER THAN A PLANE”
Check this out guys
ASTIG!!! Coach Rio vs Plane
And so I was walking along BGC one night because I was headed to the parking lot. I noticed this sign.
#BeatCoachRio? You’ve gottstabekiddin’ me!
But oh well, there’s no harm in trying right?
This event was presented by Safeguard promoting good hygiene in Sports!
for a 20 meter sprint, coach Rio’s record was 2.3 seconds!
Can you beat that?
I walked around and saw people warming up and stretching!
I was like “I didn’t get the memo! I was wearing my wedge sandals – eek!”
So I headed to the registration area. I wanted to register and try to beat coach Rio’s time (like I could) but I wasn’t dressed for it, wasn’t wearing shoes the very least
I think these guys came in a group. Obviously, they are wearing uniform shirt.
The runners would run alongside this long LCD screen where a running virtual “coach Rio” can be seen.
This picture is a blurry one! That’s just how fast these people go.
On the average, the time the runners had were 2.8 – 5 seconds.
As compared to coach Rio’s time of 2.3 seconds! That guy’s insane!
And contestant #29 is special because he’s like coach Rio’s doppelganger.
The host momentarily mistook him as coach Rio!
Did he beat coach Rio’s time?
Unfortunately not, but I remember he had a good record at 2.8 seconds!
More runners attempt to #BeatCoachRio
I spotted Coach Rio by the side. It was raining! Good thing I brought an umbrella with me.
And the picture is blurry! Sorry I got so excited I forgot to turn the flash on!
My Running Hygiene
I am personally very particular in maintain good personal hygiene in sports especially even after running. Even on a normal day where we bask on tropical weather and we expose ourselves to polluted air as we commute around the Metro is one big reason enough to pay attention to our own hygiene.
I believe that personal hygiene is the first step to good health.
Although our skin is the first layer of combat against pollutants, toxins and bacteria – we cannot abuse it that much!
It’s a habit of mine do rinse or shower before doing any form of exercise (running, pole dancing, yoga, gym). I don’t know, it’s just a bit weird for some but I personally want to be clean before invoking sweat on my body because I feel like it will breed bacteria more when I sweat. So I want to rinse off any existing unwanted microorganisms in my body before sweating! YIKES!
Plus, ODOR is caused by very naughty bacteria! They are the main culprit to that pungent smell and it is such a total turn off when I run around and I bump into my crush and they smell funky. I don’t want to smell funky either!
Because of the humid weather, I take a bath every day. Then I take a bath after I work out.
UNLESS I want to repel people…
Safeguard Active Bar
It’s actually cool that Safeguard hosted this event. Not only do they promote sports, they also provide a very convenient product to aid us in our hygiene needs!
Safeguard Active has a 12-Hour Shield and how this is able to provide what one needs when in an active lifestyle.
You should try it for yourself
Nine-tenths of our sickness can be prevented by right thinking plus right hygiene – nine-tenths of it!

Happy New Year everyone!
I love New Year as this is really the time that I get to shop for myself as my Christmas shopping is dedicated to buying gifts for my family and friends. It’s been my ritual to start the year looking for great value finds for ME. So far, I got an awesome deal of 25% discount on my new digital camera and was able to buy imported make-ups and lotions at 50% off!
Just when I thought my finds couldn’t get better, I saw this big ad for Free P2,000 worth of Nike apparel with a new EastWest Bank credit card while shopping in the mall. I got so excited as I’m planning to buy new running shoes that I can use for jogging to shave off pounds I gained over the holidays. I quickly checked their website and applied online! Can’t wait to get my card and buy my NIKE shoes thanks to my new EastWest bank credit card. Mhuahh to New Year and great deals!
Hurry, you can still catch this free P2,000 worth of Nike Park apparel promo of EastWest Bank Credit Card if you apply through their website on or before Feb 15.
Free P2,000 worth of Nike Park apparel

I usually make the most out of the free stuff I can get and while most department stores are still on New Year’s SALE right now, I say take advantage of all the sale items including Nike Park apparel and use the free P2,000 worth of Nike Park gear with your EastWest Bank Credit Card.
Most people are now into getting fit and have different ways to shape up. I already signed up for a few races for the New Year… join ME! Also, people rush to the gym on the first month of the year because everyone is trying to stay faithful to their New Year’s resolution. It’s time to shop for new clothes, new gadgets and gym/sports apparel.
It’s time to invest wisely in your goals for the next year. As for me, getting my body fit, taking care of my skin and health and shopping for the stuff that makes me look good are on top of my list for myself. I am also planning to upgrade my Nikon D40 DSLR for my photography.
What are your priorities for the next year? Ever thought about your New Year’s resolution yet? Share them with me on the comments below.

I was following the New York City NYC Marathon earlier this November and man, the race was packed with runners. It would be awesome to experience running in another country! I was having this conversation last weekend with DJ Chloe of Mellow 94.7. We just talked about things we love like running and we were both dreaming of participating runs in other countries!
It’s pretty easy actually, you just need to research for runs in different countries and sign up. Another way to run on another country is to join this year’s ING Run “Running 20” in Manila this December 11, 2010. The runners who will participate the 20k run half marathon are eligible to join the raffle to join the next year’s ING New York City NYC Marathon 2011. ING of course has always been NYC Marathon’s biggest sponsor.
In celebration of 20 years in the Philippines, ING Bank in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, will hold a special running event to raise funds for the construction of 20 homes in Laguna.

Run for a worthy cause and together, let’s make a difference one home at a time!
Believe it or not, I lost my running shoes. I am not sure where I misplaced it. I must have thrown it to the garbage bin because when I go to the gym, I wrap it in plastic. I must have thought it was trash and threw it away @_@. Anyway, it almost hindered me from achieving my goal – to finally get a gym membership. I mean, how can you go to the gym without shoes?
Vince and I went to Vivere Salon in Robinson’s Place Ermita and while he was still getting his hair cut, I roamed around looking for shoes. I got so excited of finally going to the gym and I bought these shoes even if it is a bit out of my budget. I am not entirely sure, but they seem to sell shoes at the department store more cheaper than the one in a boutique. I went to one and compared the prices, the boutique was selling it at Php 5,000 ++ while I bought this for only P 4,300. It still supposedly is out of my budget but since I don’t want to have any excuse not to go to the gym and since I need a good shoes for training (running and gym) I decided to buy it in a snap!
The shoes are meant for training. They shaped the foot sole to have diamond clusters for flexibility and adaptability to whatever activity I am conducting. You can also plug in your Nike Plus if you have one and since I don’t have one, I am planning to buy I also have an iPod nano that supports Nike Plus with that application on the net so that definitely is on my to-buy list.
Here are the pictures of my unboxing Oh, don’t mind the bunny… He was just trying to cam-whore with me. He was hopping around while I was taking shots of me wearing the shoes so yeah… It’s nice to have some cute bunny as an accessory
So, I was editing these photos when I noticed something:
I was like… wait… does that number “5” mean it’s a size 5???
I don’t really know how they put those sizes on the boxes and what not but I was pretty sure I was a size 6! Actually, 5 and a half to be exact, but I usually get the size 6. That explained why the shoes were a little bit uncomfortable. I was so FRAZZLED then because I asked the sales clerk a thousand times if they were size 6 because it was a little bit tight on my feet! I swear I remembered the sales clerk looking at the box to check and looked at me straight and said “yes maam, size 6 po ito” try no nalang ulit ito.
I tried it again, it fit just right like exactly right – no allowance or what not!
So I asked for him to give me a size 7 because I though, if size 6 for Nike is a bit small for me, then I must try the size 7! And so I did, but guess what – size 7 was too big for me!!! and so, I asked again “Sir, are you sure this is a size 6?” – “Yes maam, size 6 po. Luluwag pa naman po yan mam.”
I am really sure I was size 6 and when he said it was, I believed him… I mean I did not expect him to lie or what not! And so, I paid for it ~_~’ yadda yadda yadda…
I was so erratic because it was such an inconvenience! I had to go back again to the store and have it exchanged! And you know how much of a pain in the ass it is here in the Philippines to exchange stuff. But still, I know that wearing the wrong size could harm me so I drove all the way again…
The sales clerk who sold me the shoes wasn’t there. Instead, other sales guys from Nike were there. They confirmed – it is a size 5! @_@ I told them what happened and they were so apologetic. I know it wasn’t their fault so I didn’t give them any attitude. I was just happy that I could return it – thank GOODness! Turns out, they didn’t have any stock of size 6 anymore! I was a bit furious and I said “Bakit naman magsisinungaling yon sa akin?” (Why would he lie about the shoe size?) I was a bit pissed because I wanted that design so bad but I can’t wear a size 5 nor a 7… and they didn’t refund neither. I don’t know if you can actually do – well there was a little bit of “fraud” there right? I was fooled! Therefore, the contract of sale is supposedly did not happen … but I was at fault to because one condition for the contract to be null is that the other party (me) exercised due diligence to make sure the sale was legit. I didn’t check for myself what size it was!
(sorry about that, the accountant in me is coming out… we studied some law units and contracts are included)
anyway, I had to exchange it with another item. I didn’t mind. I just want my shoes. I really liked the design of this one, but I like the design of the new shoes I bought too! I liked it more because I like the contrast of colors and it had a little bit of platform base (about half an inch) that would make me look taller It was more expensive than this one too *haiz* so I had to make extra payment
That will be my next blog post so check it out again
So guys, remember to check the size of the shoes yourselves! Check both shoes you don’t want the other to be smaller or bigger than the other one, do you?
These are all photos from the Bluewater Day Spa run last October 17, 2010. Just in case people are looking for Bluewater Day spa run Photos or Bluewater Day Spa run pictures then I’m good to share these with you. I only used my W760i camera phone coz I was using this while I was running
Sam Milby looks hotter in person
Check out my Phail running moment running 10k here.
Officially I ran:
5k – Saving Sights for the Children of RBI, my first run ever (34 mins)
10k – Miles for Smiles (01:22:27)
I couldn’t even believe I made it! *faints* look at that happy face on the finish line!
just recently, I ran the BlueWater Day spa run for 10k again.
and here’s my PHAIL story…
We arrived just on time but I was not familiar with parking lots during the run at that time so it took us a while before we could properly park. I drank lots of fluids 30 mins before the race and because of that, I felt the need to pee!!! I have a peanut bladder and I hate that I have to deal with it all the time grr! There was a line in the portalets (not sure how you spell it, those portable toilets).
And so I though, I’d ask people for other toilets. I saw the booth of Easy Phamax wheat grass and drank a tiny cup of wheat grass juice to fuel up my run!
Just then, I heard the countdown…
(what the) ?
holy crap, it’s the 10k countdown…
so I rushed to the starting line and ran without even thinking of a solution of what to do with my bladder.
I was so distracted while I was running my first 100 steps @_@ and so I asked the marshals if there is any toilet that I can pass by. I was sure they wouldn’t know anything about toilets in the course track and that was exactly their reply.
I wanted to stop running and come back to where the booths are and pee and not join the race anymore, but I don’t know why I still kept running. I think I ran 1 km when I realized it was too late to go back. I realized that the track will pass by seaside! and so, I thought of the many restaurants there.
*AHA* !!! I will pee in one of those restos!
AHA my FACE!!! It was 6am and all of them are closed!!! EPIC PHAILNESS!!! I DIEEEEEE LEH!
I kept running because if I need to go back, I would need to run back anyway. HUHU!
I still kept asking people around for restrooms because I was hell desperate! Finally, I saw a Police officer on a motorcycle and asked him if he knew any toilet nearby. “Ah, yes maam, we have a toilet in our Police station”, he said. YAYE! I ran towards their office which was located somewhere in the seaside restos. I took me to a creepy corner. Creepy because it was only me, and him… I realized then, that I was in a dangerous situation. This place, people wouldn’t know I’m here… *gulps* and so I tried to be very sharp on every detail and how I thought about how I would run and how I would punch him if ever he’ll do something sleezy. Good thing a lady police officer was there too and long story short, I was able to pee!
I finished the race at 1:28:49 … I didn’t beat my record like I hoped I would but I was only behind for 6 minutes. I think my peepee time stalled me for 15 minutes because I had to stop by all the marshalls and ask for the restroom.
I’m still happy I made it before 1:30…
One lesson learned… DON’T be late, arrive at the runs early especially if you’re not familiar with parking.
and… PEE first!
BTW, If you’re looking for the Blue Water Day Spa run results, it’s here.
‘Till the next run!
